My old landlord has a 41 ford super deluxe 4 door He and I have been discussing me purchasing it. It is in pretty good shape sheet metal wise only found a couple of small holes in the front lower parts of the front fenders right behinde the bumper. I found a picture of one that is pretty close to comprable shape it is in . It doesn't run the flathead he was going to put in it he used in his 40 pickup so it needs a motor. Any ball park on what it might be worth to me would help I asked what he wanted for it he keeps telling me what do I want to give him for it? I told him I want to give him 100 dollars for it but I knew he would not take that so name a price. He told me he had never thought of selling it and if he would sell it would be to me because he knows I would lave that damn thing like he did. So ball parks. thanks Big J Oh yeah my mother put the ki-bosch on my dad letting me build the willy's because I told her I wanted to make it 2 wheel drive and chop the roof. I thought she was going to go into convulsion!
A four door with no motor but in otherwise OK shape? I'd say from $500-$1000, depending on what the interior looks like, and if it has a clear ***le/keys. Don't let anyone turn you off of a four door, they may not be as sleek as a coupe but they can be just as fun and a heck of a lot cheaper. Just don't pay too much for it. I was just driving my '40 Chrysler around today Four doors, no waiting.
depending on how bad you want it, I would say no more than $500. Some things to consider... Does it have a ***le?($150-$250 if no.) Hows the interior? Will you have to replace the suspension?(figure at least $1000 to redo the stock suspension and brakes.) Motor and trans are going to cost a bit, $800 - ????. youll have to swap the rear axle if you go with a newer setup. which means different brakes. Basically the car is the container that holds all the expensive stuff, so pay as little as possible for it. See if you can trade out some work for the car, that way your not out anything. Gary
Well said, he could give you the car and you will still have, or could have alot invested. Pay him what you feel comfortable with and not a cent more. Arrive at a figure that is acceptable for both you and he. If you feel he wants more than you want to pay, move on. It's that simple. Looks like a solid car though, and there are fewer and fewer of them all the time. JayD
the interiior was redone already and the guy that did it was really good. Thanks fo the figures I am going to have a sit down with him this week so thanks.
You have to answer yourself that one important question, : do you like it enough to sink the time and money into it to get it how you want? What do you want anyway? A kustom, take it back original? or attempt hop it up?
I mostly plan on cleaning it up getting it road ready, remove almost all chrome, possibly chop the top and rock it flat black.
Is a 41 4DR what you really want? Once you build it it's yours, make sure it's what you want. You will spend just as much building a 41 4DR as you will building a 37 coupe. Like was said earlier, the car is the shell that holds all of the expensive stuff. The final appearance and resale value are a couple of considerations.
Seriously I like the 4dr way more than 2 drs I like things that are different. As for resale not really gonna worry about it because once I build it I will more than likely keep it forever I pretty much want it bad. I am not gonna tell him that I mostly wondered what would be fair to me I have been all over the place with prices on old school rides that I have been looking at this one is prolly the best shape out of the ones i have seen. I saw a plymoth 4 dr I liked it and it ran but he wanted 7500 I thought that was high. Oh and like I said I love 4drs not sure why but I do.
