I have been using Milwaukee brand, mainly because I got a stack for free but the are really nice. They dont start chipping away once they get smaller like some of the others I have used.

Have you run 5 inch vs 4 ,curious if the 5 inch is kind of big and out of control

    Hey,

Avoid anything that doesn't have a safety rating printed on it, and always ware a face shield. Facial reconstructive surgery is very painfull and expensive:eek:

i like the 4 1/2" dewalt ones u can get from the home depot. i like 'em on the thin side. i too made the mistake of using no name ones. not only breakable, but would give off a horrible death cloud to burn up your lungs. yeah, yeah i know wear a mask.

Had bad luck with the Sears ones. I'm super paranoid, I am usually immobilized and working blind with all the safety gear i put on.

Cheap diamond wheels. Ebay. Last a long time, you'll go through 10 abrasive wheels while I'm still using the first diamond wheel. Joe H

I like the Dewalt's as well. They hold up good and fit the arbor correct.

  19. The German ones with a lion on the tin are good - get the ones intended for stainless (marked Inox) as they last longer. Also let the wheel do the work and don't lean on it.

I bet I used up 200 or more Harbor Freight cutoff wheels. they are by far the cheapest, but may not last as long but in the end are still cheaper when it is all said and done.

you need to put them on the grinder with the metal ring in the center pointing up.

I've never had one explode. not sure what people are doing to make them explode.

Just my opinion on the subject, my Metabo cutting tool is #3 on my list of greatest tools i've ever owned. It will buck you before it even thinks about bogging down.

I use Metabo discs, and Metabo brand grinder! Theres no comparison. I've also got a little cheapo harbor freight grinder that I use with my flap wheels. I used my brothers Milwaukee for a year or so, but always Metabo blades.

It can be worse... :D I got stupid and bought some no names and one broke at the center. It did a burnout on the painted side of the car before rolling to a stop.

I've had a chop saw and cut off blade explode. Both seemed to be caused by a funky harmonic off balance that came out of nowhere. Only lasted a split second then BOOM!

second that on the harbor freight ones, i was helping a buddy cut a tv antenna down and he gave me his to use, damn thing burst into flames in my hand, gotta love chinese quality! i have a black and decker and it works fine

  30. As long as you don't push hard and hold it steady they're fine. If the wheel wants to start jumping, then pull back, that's when they clip stuff and pieces come flying off at your face. I too have used dozens of them, and on their angle grinders at that.

I would spend the money for better ones if I was cutting sheetmetal all the time, though, for whatever reason cutting body tin they wear out a lot faster than cutting say bolts. I've even used them to score the tin and bent it back and forth to snap it off to save on how many wheels I use up.
