Anyone used this type of set up in a street rod? I am building a 36 chevy sedan and was thinking that sliders instead of shackles might be cool. I know some guys have used the sliders on the street with success (with caveats of keeping them clean and lubed, etc) More wondering about the leaf applications in a street rod. Any thoughts are appreciated.

  2. Someone used to sell parallel leaf conversions for Fat fender cars that used that style. It allowed them to go lower without having to use lowering blocks. They made a bit of noise, but other than that seemed to work fine on the street (It might have been SAC before they went out of business)

thanks for the responses. I did see the post by Iron Maiden. Interesting stuff. I think the sliders should be fine. Any opinions on the use of the race springs? Any advice on rates? I am guessing that either #175 or #200 is about right given the weight of the sedan...

  4. Well you need to know the weight, sprung and unsprung.
Andy has a great cheapy tech on building a weight cell to take the guess work out if it.
