I just got the car and want to get all my parts before i start getting into it. Some parts im going new and others im gonna do used. I found a mustang 2 front end on craigs off a 93 and it has 5lug and what seems to be everything i would need for 150. Is this the front i want for doing a nice air bag setup. Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews so im just trying to see if i should jump on this deal. Thank you very much

93 is fox body mustang, thats a strut style front end with shock towers..definately not what you want. you want a late 70's pinto/mustang II if your just looking to use stock parts. but save yourself the time and effort, and just buy the proper crossmember from one of the many vendors..

  6. unless the front end is a mess, rebiuld it. All the parts are available to rebuild it, and the ride is decent, too. Cheaper, simpler. I'd rebuild it. Switching front ends can be a lot of work.

The guys are right. The 79 and later Mustangs are completely different cars with completely different suspensions.

If you use used parts you will end up rebuilding what ever front suspension you use be it MII or the stock Chevy.
The stock Chevy works but is a bit spendy to rebuild and the steering linkage is the big rub for most guys. It also depends on if your stock stuff is in good enough shape to rebuild and the cross member isn't bent up or rusted out.

A couple of vendors have bolt on MII style crossmembers for that model of Chevy that don't require welding. They aren't cheap at around 600 + bucks but a couple of guys with a hand full of wrenches and a 1/2 inch drill can swap front ends and have a roller in a day if you have the suspension pieces to go along with the crossmember there. There are also a lot of weld on crossmembers available that use the stock MII pieces or tube A arms. I say that because lately it's getting hard to find stock MII, Pinto or Mercury Bobcat crossmembers that are usable.
