word of advice they dont fit on a 16 foot trailer safely.... hauled my 64 with the rear tires only about 6" onto the trailer and it was kinda squirly....

I recently, hauled a 1961 caddy from Ohio to Minn.
    I reccomend trailering.
If you have a pickup with towing capacity(Springs, Rear ratio, large capacity radiator), and a large tow dolly, watch speed, it could be dollied for relatively short distances.

i am not exactly sure about the '63, but i hauled a 62 coupe de ville for a buddy of mine. it would not fit on a regular car hauling type trailer. i used my 30' gooseneck that i haul my tractor on. needless to say it was a pain in the ass. getting that giant sled pulled up on a dovetail was a 3 hour affair, gettin it down only took about 15 seconds, we cut the brake line and let her fly. it cost $120 bucks to fix the fence, but nonetheless a fun time. those cars are huge, good luck.

The 61 I picked up at Grumpy's place fit fine on my 18 foot car hauler. Of course, I have trailer brakes and the car was drivable.
I can offer one solutin to off loading non operating vehicles With two ratchet type straps hooked to the forward end of vehicle, allow a small amount of slack in one, then ratchet it just enough to get the stap bound on itself with some slack. Then, release the other letting the car come to the end of the slack strap. Repeat process until the vehicle is where you want it. Block wheels, pull trailer away.
    Works, dont it, Rocky?

By the way, not all trailers are car haulers, some are utility trailers.:)

Ya, the only trailer I have access to is a 16' flat deck that is 6.5' between the wheel wells. Do you think that is enough? I have a 5 hour drive with a three quarter tonne truck.

Can a dolly from Uhaul work? The car runs a drives a bit but needs alot of work.

it takes a good sized trailer to haul a big car like that....my lightweight 16' trailer is now bent from hauling a 69 lincoln....

if it will fit on the dolly, might want to disconnect and secure the driveshaft, then it should be ok. make sure the truck handles well before going too fast.

Another bit of advice. Don't haul ANYONE'S car with a U-Haul trailer (at least when it is a 63 Cadillac). I towed my 64 4 door Oldsmobile from KCMO to Pittsburg, KS (about a 3 hour drive going slow with a 1 ton truck and monster trailer). I considered getting a U-Haul dolly but my car weighed too much for it. I wouldn't take the chance of something going wrong...

With that much weight, get a car trailer with a friction brake on it and a big truck. Be prepared to dump soome coin on gas..I just hauled a '52 chevy from Detroit to Wisconsin with a car trailer from u-haul...$125 bucks for 3 days and you can pick it up when you get there instead of dragging it to your destination. If you use u-haul, make sure you call and confirm your reservation, they tend to fuck that up a little.
