    evolvo,
That looks nice! Way better than your avatar. You have a build thread on that car somewhere?

  8. The paint job looks real nice! What have you done to the rear side windows?? Would have been cool to see it with Firestones on black steelies! :D I'm planning on installing stock dogdish hubcaps on mine, or what do you think?

Thanx Kvipt, I'm really pleased with how it came out. For the rear side windows I bought four new rubber gaskets. I used an original side glass to make a template of the full length window, approx 1525mm X 355mm. I then cut two of the gaskets and used a product called Quick Bond to glue up one new gasket around the template. I haven't bought the glass yet. As you surely know that long window run is not straight, it has a slight curve to it. I have been assured that a 5mm thick piece of tempered glass will be able to take this slight bending with no issues. We shall see! Hopefully we won't see shattered glass everywhere.
If I look closely at your photos I think you have either used two pieces of glass with a seam, or have come up with a sliding front section. The sliding glass is something I really wanted to figure out but time and money just wasn't there, although I still may try to get that figured out.
    You're car looks great!!:)

My 122...a few years ago. Currently undergoing some serious mods to be better than ever...

  11. Exactly what i did on both the templates and gaskets! :D i made it out of 5mm tempered glass, no problem to fit the curve, so no joints or plastic :) i was planning on a sliding system, But i had to be finished before the winter, so i did not do it.. So you will have no problem installing tempered glass, if it was laminated, you would have a problem though.. Looks real Nice judging from the picture!

I guess there really are no original thoughts. That's amazing that we came up with the same solution!! I'm beginning to think if we posted jpegs of ourselves we might look alike. I brought the car home from the paint shop last night. Now I can spend the wet winter assembling all the little pieces and getting ready for next cruising season. Can't wait!!!

    Keep this thread going:D

Haha we really should! Too bad I dont usually go to China ;)

  17. Hehe! :D Coincidences! It just seemed like the best solution to make it appear factory stock. If we just lengthened the front doors and welded the rear shut, then we would not have the nice curve in the door jambs.. Then you only have the fun part left! Seems like you have a nice winter to look forward to! :) Haha, Who knows, I might be a younger version of you!

This picture is sort of custom related since Gene Winfield is involved, so hope i don't get banned! I'm the kid on Gene's right, and the two guys in front wearing black are my older brothers. The bro on the left is Superfleye on the Hamb, and he runs the Kustomrama which I'm addicted to.. And the one on the right is KustomK, which is a master in chopping tops. :D Here's a link to some of their creations: http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Coupe_Devils

Actually, no, I don't have a build thread. Never stop long enough to take any photos. Since your in Puyallup I'm hoping I'll get to meet you at the 2013 Goodguys!!

I remember seeing this photo before, that 122 is gorgeous. I'm guessing your on the TB forum?

Well, we don't look at all alike. There goes that theory. I'm guessing that your the young blond on Gene's left! I don't see how you could get banned for this. There are a shitload of guys on this forum that would give their left nut to put their arm on Gene's shoulder!
My wife's gonna dig up a photo of me with the car, soon I hope!

Was the guy on the far left in the photo in a bad accident? He sure has a funny grin:eek:
Just kidding, I know it's camera distortion!

  21. Hehe! I'm the blond dude! :) Haha, we call him smiley! :D The picture is from last year when we visited all the old custom shops in California, and the GNRS :) Can't wait until next year, when I'm going to school in Norwalk! Thinkering a little bit of shipping the Volvo with me :)

Kvipt, The motor is a GM 3.8 ltr super charged V6 out of a '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP backed by a T5 manual trans and a Jag IRS.
You should definitely bring your car to the states. You'd have a blast and I'm betting gas here is cheap compared to Norway. Speaking of Norway, I live in a part of Seattle called Ballard which had a very large Scandinavian population during most of the last century, lots of Norwegian fisherman. I bought the tudor 122 that I used for the front of the wagon from my friend Oddvar Ogland. He ran a Volvo repair shop in Ballard for forty years:eek:

  28. Wow! Bet it runs pretty well! :D oddvar is a norwegian name :) Blew a head gasket on mine on Saturday.. The plan was buying a late 1930's or early 1940's coupe or roadster in California while I was studying, but it would be fun to take the little wagon with me :)

While this isn't a custom Volvo I still think it really speaks to a lot of us who really dig them.
