I've got a stock 4 blade that's 14" blade tip to blade tip or about 15" on the diagonal blade tip to blade tip.....

I'd like to see a side on shot. I know there isn't garage room to get a full side profile, but I'd like to see a dead on to see where the bed sits in relation to the body (height wise) and the tire. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I'll get more shots this weekend while I'm there. I took a couple when the body was still back farther and still orange. It's forward about 2+ inches and the back of it has been lowered a little. I guess I'll be pushing it back out into the driveway again... It's pretty nice to be able to move it around easier now.
The stock 6 blade sbc fans are 17 across. Its not 16, but its closer...lol The bed on mine is 30 inches if you are looking to see what it would look like.
Norton I just went out in the cold garage to measure my stock A tailgate. Your welcome. Oh cold in California is 40 degrees F. It measures 41" across and 13" high. That should give you something to gauge yours by. I like the length and height of yours but it might be widened enough to cover the line in back of the body. It is distracting. And if anybody thinks little things like that don't make a difference, that's why your car is ugly! Happy Thanksgiving. Oh yeah your in Canada. Well enjoy your family today anyway. Well, since we didn't get the steel we needed for the front of the engine mount that didn't get done. Lots of plans were made and measurements have been taken and we moved the engine up another inch. We started on the steering box mount and got pretty far with it. The steering angle is kinda low going into the cowl so we're going to put a u-joint inside the cowl to hide it and still have enough room to get the angle up enough to be comfortable sitting in the car. No one will be the wiser that it's hidden in there... Speedy_Canuck rules and (lent/gave/bartered/traded) me a '40 Ford pitman arm to use. I've really gotten a bunch of help on this build! That looks like a good distance on the engine. That way if you change your plans, an HEI should fit right in there. It will also free up some much needed foot space. I am in the hunt for a stock PU bed, when I stretched this one the gl*** work was...well my first attempt. Figured I can get a stock bed, cut to fit and really screw the people up that always walk up and knock on the bed to see if its steel...lol

After all, it was your girlfriend who stood around yelling "WHO OWNS THIS?" at the swap and then bartered on my behalf. Things look good. I think the u-joint in the cowl is the best idea. Hahaha, this car will never have a HEI distributor. There's a line on the frame rail where the body will sit. It's pushed back a little in the picture almost an inch. I would love to find a real deal early A style bed! I've seen a few at the swaps but, I don't like spending money... I need the knee room so the steering shaft need to go up... A 15"-16" steering wheel would help too...
I figured as much, but hey never hurts for the just in case!! Yeah some of the folks around here seem to think those beds are made of gold. I may be fab'ing one up over the winter as a project, if I can figure out some of the bends. If I do I will let you know.
just something i learned...make sure you put your headders on for mock up when doing the steering box....my box was a 1/4" PITA....ended up having to move it so the headders would mount....tight fit! oh..once the interior was done, i had to move the steering wheel up 2" so i could fit in the car....seems as soon as you modify one thing you need to change 2 sometimes..LOL
...also, before you freeze the steering column....work on the pedals and their linkages (if you have wide feet you're in for a challenge). When you done all that, sit in it for three hours straight and see what part of your body starts to seize up first....then make adjustments....
The column location forward of the firewall is pretty much set. Nothing mounted solid yet though. Putting a u-joint inside the car should give me enough room to move the wheel up and over a little. The frame is tapered as well so we'll be moving the column 90* to the axles to start with and over farther if needed. The floor and seat will be in before we settle on a final wheel location and size. The dual racy masters I had planned might not work out now... haha. I actually sat and fell asleep in my '27 once. I might have been drunk...
I gotta say quickchangeV8 had some great parts for sale at the swap! These bolt on mounts came from him as well as that wheel in my previous post. I need to get a better picture of that wheel! It's nice! I also got a windshield frame with gl*** still in it. No pictures of that yet as it's still sitting in the back seat of my car. Now I guess I need to get those front mount made for the motor.
Don't feel bad for painting it, Your making it your own now. I have been following this build thread since it started and it is coming together nicely.
