    Hi all,

I've joined the forum about two years a go and basically just have been reading other folks's post. So I thought it was about time I introduced myself :)

Am a Dutchie, '77 model. Don't ban me and kick me to turbobricks.org for this but I'm a Volvo-niac. Have a '85 240 Estate 2.1L Turbo (US model) and a '65 122S (also US import).

The 240 is stock and almost have her ready for our 'DMV' check and hopefully get her on the road soon.

The 122S has some bolt on modifications (dropped/wide wheels/racing front seats) but is a work in progress. On a trip through Vietnam I visited a stainless factory and had them make stainless one piece bumpers without ornaments after a design I made. Chrome doesn't last long here, environmental legislation killed the art here.
An overbored B20 (2130cc - flowed head - custom cam - dual 45 Webers ~165HP) is waiting to be joined with a T5 transmission and put in the car.

My aim for the 122S is to do period correct modifications. As I'm getting to the point to plan esthetic modifications I'll be looking for tips and trics on this forum more and more.

    Plans so far;
Shaving, nosing, decking it. Molding the fenders/grille. French the headlights and remove the front indicators. Round corner the hood and doors.

I don't have a mechanical or steelworking background and work in advertising / ICT. When I bought the 122S I never worked on a car. Everything I do to the car comes from sources like books, forums like this and last but not least a mate who owns a couple of classic Volvos as well. Trial, error and perseverance is my route and it's working alright :)

Well that's it for my introduction. Hope to see you on the forums!

    Cheers,
    Bart

Well I figured since the model didnt change since '56 I'd be alright. Specially since it could be a 53 Merc's little sister, not to mention that these cars are being discussed on the forum already. But guess I'm wrong...

Thanx for the welcome! Don't know much about Aussie hot rodding. Don't they drive Holdens instead of Volvos? Here in the Netherlands there weren't much US cars in the days so a barn found Chevy or Merc is out of the question. Hence my 122s. Lots of parts and easier to park in the miniature parking spaces we get hehehe!

Twain Harte, have to look it up. Lived in Portland, OR. for a while...

    Cheers

    Hi Dale,

How is life? Yeah I know... *embarrassed*... Been working on a 240 I picked up in northern Norway which is originally is an US model. It's almost roadworthy so now finally my 122 gets some TLC.

@YetisKustoms; You just might! Or maybe the other way around :p How is Bend? Been 19 years since I've been to Oregon. Need to go back some day...

    Cheers
