If I go, I'll be riding with a buddy. He and I have decided to split the driving and show costs by traveling together to NSRA and GG shows. It's just too damned expensive now.
And as Dave said, a lot hinges on the weather. We aren't pre-registering for anything anymore either. We've sat in the rain at Rhinebeck for too many years.

I got a room so I'll be there. Does anyone know if cars for sale are strictly limited to the car corral area or can I park with the rest of my cronies without fear of being thrown out of the show just because there is a for sale sign in my window?

I'll be walking around on Saturday. For those that have never been to the Rhinebeck Fair Grounds, I don't think you'll find a better place for a show. Super clean and well maintained site, hope is is sunny this year. :D

I didn't go last year (due to the aforementioned rain :( ), but attended the previous two years. Agree that the Fairgrounds is a great venue.

Will prolly go at some point over the weekend.

You can stick it where you want it, the sign that is, I have never had a problem at any GG show.

I sold 2 cars one weekend, 56 Chevy wagon and a 39 Dodge sedan. Parked right were the cars drive in, no one said a word.
But they will come down on you if you cook your own burgers...Ask the PackRats! hehe

Yeah, NO OPEN FIRES ON FAIRGROUNDS!
    Don't forget it either!
We had some of NY's finest, along with the GG security there and a few of the 'show' people off in the distance making sure we put out the flames.....
I thought we were heading home early that year...but all was cool in the end, once we put the grill away..

    Now,
Myself and another club member was planning on going, along with a few others.
Big Chief and Dat Dirty Rat i don't think are going to make it, although i'd love em to go... they both have a lot going on so it's not looking good...

I had planned on driving my 53 down for the gig, but the ticking i thought was valve train has developed into a baby rod knock in the 800 or so mile's i've put on it since it came out...i don't think a babbit mill with a noisy lower end will live for 300 miles at 65+ mph....and i don't really wanna tow it down, plus can't aford to blow it up anyway.....so looks like i'll be taking my truck again..

To be honest, i'm FLAT BROKE right now, so i shouldn't even be thinking about this show at all!!
But, like i said, i plan on going so we'll see what happens.

I'm broke too. And we're going to Lake George the weekend before Rhinebeck.
Want me to poke around and see if I can find a 55-62 six for your 53?

I actually picked up a nice 58 235 with around 50K miles on it a couple years ago. It's got the high comp 848 head, and i've picked up some other 'hop up' stuff for it, but i was hoping to get a year or so out of the original mill so i can save the scratch up to build the 58.
I'll cruise it around here and maybe this winter be able to build it and convert it to open drive all at the same time....

Thanks for offering though, i apreciate it.

As far as being broke.....well, this past few weeks i've been rolling change man :D.........and decided to start driving the 33 daily because it's so damn good on gas!!NO JOKE either..
it get's somewhere around 25 mpg! my GMC get's 9! Haha

I need some side business at the shop.

    Hopefully see you there!

My wife and I will be driving in again this year , although if I hadn't already signed up and planned my vacation time around it I might have passed due to the price of gas. It will cost me about $250.00 just in gas to get there and back. I bought a truck there last year and it wasn't in the car corral. Carlg

I'll be there as usual as I'm a "local" but my ride will be parked in the lot and walk in with a lot of other Lone Wolf's. Rhinebeck is a great place for a show and the Spring Dustoff show is the best for range of cars and vendor stuff. The GG's are Ok but row after row of 350/350 shiners and the vendors with billet doo-dads and anything tri-5 - gets me yawning after 20 minutes . If you want real homebrew stuff and looking for a deal on anything old and rare - come to the Spring Dustoff. For some real fun I should take the Wagon with a couple of kids with bikes in the back onto the field!.

Here's some pics from the spring:
    [IMG]//[IMG]

some wheels I got for $20 [IMG]
I also got a set of buckets and rear seats for $20 in the spring:[IMG]

    Haha..
The hot rodder in me would love a bent eight in it, but i just can't do it man.. The inline is the soul of this thing, taking it out would take away form the overall feel of it...ya know, that slow as hell feeling..:D
    Next year, it'll be there.
I'd LOVE to get some pics of both cars together, i'd be framing 'em and hangin em in the shop!

It's ok though, we'll take pics of the trucks instead.
Even though the 53 is wayyyyyyy more comfy than the truck, the truck has heat and wipers so it'll be better considering the way the weather's been there the last couple years....wet and cold.

See that ASSGUY, now you'll be able to carry your lark independent scooter yourself and not load it on my sedan for you. It'll look so cute in the back of that shop truck with you all comfy up front. Sounds like it's time to unload the Jerkury????

I'll be there on Friday and have a room for the weekend. Right now my wife is going cause thats one of her favorite runs, but I'm working on that!;)
Catch you guys there. When are you heading up?

I have a hard head, and i'm stubborn as hell too..might need more than just a strong arm to change my screwed up mind! Haha

Actually, i have some shitty news as far as me going..
Looks like it's not going to happen afterall. I was way short on cash, and was actually borrowing a couple bux to make this gig, but got a insurance bill in the mail today for my gmc for close to 500 bux..no choice in paying it,and because of that mixed with the fact i was short to begin with i have to back out..

I just plain can't afford it this year..
    This SUCKS!

Have fun...and Dave, have a few beers for me will ya..

Maybe, just maybe i'll meet you at the Rumble next year with the chevy if i get the SIX BUILT and in it :D:D..

Oh yeah, the new shop trucks NICE!

Yeah but you had enough cabbage to buy THIS!

    http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1284

Geez....a new gut in the '53, a fresh 235 for the '53, and building a brit-bike on top of it all....this winter no less.........so much for that selling off stuff, straightening out life and look into get'n a house, eh?

You must of rolled alot of pennies, eh?

I took out my buddies scooter out this past weekend in Cincinatti. I took it back three hours later. He was a little worried. As soon as the '48 is done/close to it I'm riding a HOG. Congrats on the bike...looks like you have your hands full there Fonzie.

Yeah, i finally got another bike.
Sold the red truck, and payed off 3 bills clearing me of 340 bux a month..
The interior and mill of the 53 will hopefully be paid for with plowing money from this season..
I kinda do have my hands full with the bike, but i'm back on the plus side financially even with the bike purchase..close to 2 grand on the plus..and paid my ins bill for the gmc.
and thats all in the bank..
next is the coupe heading for ebay.
trust me i havn't lost track of what i'm doing..even though it probably looks it :D.
As far as the show, i sold the truck after i cancelled all the rooms and crossed out my day's off at work..I'd rather leave the cash in the bank and buy the bike than spend 500 plus for the show right now.
