I have a Member from Japan thats wants to buy my car. We have had several PM's back and forth but his english translations are difficult to understand at times. As I'm sure mine must be for him . I would like it if someone could act as a translator to make sure he is understandong my PM's correctly. Thanks Mike

Once its set up I'd be really interested in konwing which shipper he uses. I find google translate is OK. Just keep your sentences short and simple and it will work fine.

Thanks I think thats probably what hes been using to send me PM's but I was hoping to find someone that can confirm he is understanding what I am telling him. He is working on the shipping arrangements now. So far the most expensive part he has (again if I am understanding him) is the Customs fees of 1500.00 he said about $1000.00 for the boat ride and then about $1400.00 from Illinois to Long Beach. I am not sure which company he is using but I am also trying to help find a way to get it to LB safely . Thanks again for the replies. Mike

Swing it all my way and I'll check it out for you.

I have a Black Belt in Engarish, and understand enough Japanese Grammar to try to make some sense of those horrible auto translations.

So many risks with international sales. I'd be tempted to hang in there for a US buyer.

    Nori-san congrats on the purchase!

Imfatdad - great offer, have any of your friends imported cars, Im trying to sort out what is required to send a bike over.

Oh please, if you dont ship before the cash arrives what is the drama. The REAL risk is for the buyer.

    That's neither funny nor smart.

When the % of Americans driving Toyotas is less than the % of Japanese driving American cars, then your comment will only be not funny.

I need a Japanese translator too. Not so worried about translating skills just so long as she looks like Lucy Lui.

I sold to a guy in Japan and had the same problem. Luckily he had a buddy in Calf. that could type decent english that helped. The deal took a little longer than most but was trouble free and I wouldn't think twice about selling overseas again. The big bonus was I will never see my old car again and think "Man, I should have kept that!"

Thanks guys, So far Nori and I have been able to understand each others messages. At first I wasnt sure we were understanding each other. I just want to have someone that will help us if we need it. He has a lot of details to work out with the shipping, so I posted this just incase we needed help getting it sorted out. I know it will be appreciated over there just as much as it would here. Thanks again for the offers to help. Mike

Congratulations to Russco for going that extra mile to help Nori fulfill hes dream,,communication between two people from different country's can sometimes be confusing at best but perseverance will always bring the desired results.

Congratulations are also in order to Nori for buying such a nice coupe!

Having dealt with the same questions and logistics of the sale of my sedan a few months before I can relate.

Akira and I were lucky that his friend Tomoya could be our translator,I can't imagine him decoding my Southern English, but he did and every thing worked out.

I recently received a E-mail from Tomoya saying that he and Akira were looking forward to the Mooneyes show.

Nori,,,I don't know if you will be at the Mooneyes show in December but if you go look for a black 1932 Ford 4 door sedan with red wire wheels and wide white wall tires. HRP

    FANTASTIC!!!!! Congrats

  29. Nori, glad to see you are still around and that you ended up with that nice coupe!

And for the folks that are newer that 10 years on the HAMB. Nori is a prime example of how post count does not matter. He is an upstanding guy and been on the HAMB a LONG time. Many of us have had good dealings with him. So, nationality and post count really has no bearing in this. The communication gap can be tough some times however.
