Now THAT, is how one should be done! No reason to waste your time if your not going to go ALL the way. VERY nice job! The car is outstanding!
A perfect example of how they looked when they rolled off the line. Congrats on a clean redo of a very popular car. Frank
By any chance did you have her out at Hale Farm's show this summer? I was drooling over the three-tone Packard President Speedster until I saw an immaculate '57 Olds that was the same color.
Beautiful car, can I ask how that finish was achieved on the driveshaft(never thought I'd be asking resto questions on here)? Is that paint or bare steel as it was? Thanks,
I was wondering the same thing. Also, regarding some of the detail work on the E-Brake hardware (tensioner & whatnot): Is it painted or plated? Thanks!
Jim, Gourgeous car! You did an amazing job on the restoration. I went to high school with a kid whose Grandmother bought him a new Red '57 Olds w/J-2. It was one of the fastest cars around town, and ruled it's cl*** at the old York US30 Dragway. Thanks for posting the pics........................Woody
The drive shaft is painted a silver to look like natural steel color. The E-brake cables are original, and I soaked them in solvent to clean, and then wiped on a silver paint also.
Very, very nice car - love that body style! I'll add the photos from your other threads (since they are buried back a few days)....
Wow!! Nick, thanks for piecing the other thread up with this one. Absoloutly knock out, what a rush seeing this baby. Thanks for sharing!!~Sololobo~
Hadda '57 88 coupe... Fiesta Red... bought it in '65 for $285.00... great high school car...the guys called it "the Impressor' 'cuz i could burn rubber the entire length of the front of my high school...
Truly top notch. Very rarely do you see a car restored to this level. I don't even think Oldsmobile got them to this level! The craftsmanship, attention to detail...wow, just wow.
I am a Ford guy true and blue, but this has always been one of my favourite cars...congratulations, well done!!!!!!
