I'm trying to make a hub puller for my American Austin. I think I can wled the puller to a large fine thread nut (2 3/16"). Where can I find a place that sells large nuts / bolts? thanks

looks like something someone will have to single point. You are going to have to get closer than just "fine thread" Best to have the male thread there to try the nut on.

I went through the same thing to pull the hubs on my Studebaker. 2 3/16th is hard to find. I ended up buying a smaller nut with the same thread count and fabricating a puller.
It wasn't cheap. That was before I found out about the many different hub pullers from back in the day that are for sale on line. The axle is tapered and you'd be surprised at how tight the hub grips it. If you build a puller make it to take a beating. This guy has a lot of repopped special tools Google him and look around.

Whats the thread pitch? If it's 12 you can get a 2 inch nut and tap it out. 2-3/16 taps are available.

You can also get a 2-1/4, slice it with a cutting wheel, then clamp it closed on your hub to close the gap. Tack weld it with a few turns on the thread and then remove it vcut and weld up.
