Thinking of chopping my 36 cabriolet, looking for idea's on adjusting gap on door window frame without cutting and re-bending the window frame itself?

thanx , but I think a small chop does look better, just didn't want to butcher up the window frame too much

I like the idea of it chopped a bit, but I can't see the window frame staying stock....unless there is a way to drop the top iron hinge points lower and also a bit forward? But then I don't know what would happen at the top front corners of each quarter panel, as everything needs to fit good there.

Is it because the frames are plated, and you want to avoid replating?

I really think the frames will get cut, as the job would be a lot easier IMO

yes, I think you are right, thinking of 2 1/2 chop, with the piece i take out I can add it to the front of the frame being as i go down the top frame gets longer. Just didn't know if anyone has done it differently ?

Chopped my '39 ford convertible 2". Dropped the top iron pivots down into modified "B" pillars so that the irons remained stock. The pieces over the door gl*** will have to be longer unless you slant the windshield back. You will have to modify the door gl*** frames or build new ones from stainless channel (thats what I did) It all works out, but takes a lot of effort. One of the street rod mags had an article on chopping a '36 cabriolet a few years ago, might want to hunt up a copy.

the only ss channel for the gl*** I can fine around here is not very deep, 3/8in or so . The stock frame is 7/8. What size did you use?
