I've been posting pictures from when I purchased the wagon a few months ago, but I figured I'd start my first build Tread. Couple things, purchased this wagon 3 months ago off of craigslist for a family friendly ride. I have a couple other cars, but not able to fit the entire family in. It was a running driving car with a 350 chevy and 4 speed. It appreared as if the floor was the only thing that was rusted( boy was I wrong) Someone had installed 4 wheel disc brakes on the car, thank goodness I did not drive the car anywhere other then on the trailer. All the brackets had 2 small welds holding them on (front and rear). One big plus, all the glass was in good shape. The first round of plans will be to make it a easy driver for my wife, SBC with a 700r tranny. Thanks for any feed and help along the way.

After I started taking it apart I found that the rockers on both sides where rotted out along with the floor. I got REAL lucky, a good buddy of mine purchased a wagon a few years ago and it came with a super clean floor section from the front cowl to the rear floor section. It also included complete rockers. Only bad side was it came out of a 4 door car. What I ended up doing was cuting it below the vin tag, and at the door pillers, and at the rear floor seam. With all the old metal out, I was able slide in the new floor.

Soon after I got the floor in place I took the body to the sand blaster to see what I was working with, got a few suprises, but over all very happy with how it turned out. Some of the picture are after the DP was installed also. We had a very warm day, and I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather. It's so much easlier to spray the stuff outside.

Neato wagon man, always some surprizes on those "rust free" rides. Looks like you have it under control. Welders are a dangerous commidity in the wrong hands! rock on ~sololobo~

No idea on the wheels yet, I do like wide whites just haven't made that jump yet. I'm really starting to like the O.E. green color. Kind of like a mint color. The car according to the tag it was all green, I'm thinking two tone with a cream accent.

Well I got a little work done this morning before the football games started. Had to have a buddy of mine make a filler piece on the rocker. This was due to the floor pans from a 4 door. It turned out pretty nice I think, also it needed patch panels for the lower quarters (front). It turned out to be a blessing with the rockers still attached from the 4 door on that part. I was able to make replacement pieces and attach it to rocker. Thanks for the feed back so far, gives me a motivation to keep going.

  15. I absolutely love two door wagons, truth be known I like 4 door wagons also!:D

Looks like it's gonna be a nice piece,,your wife will love it,,I know my wife loves hers. HRP

  16. Great job on the cowl/floor cut and slide. Factory solid green colors for the '56 210 2dr wagon were Pinecrest Green (lite green), Sherwood Green (dark green), and Twilight Turquoise (dark turquoise). One cud also get two-tone combos with these colors using India Ivory as the top color. Another two-tone combo available was Sherwood Green over Pinecrest Green. All nice color schemes. You're gonna have a neat ride when you're done. I'm sure the wife will like it, too! Thanks for sharing your build.

Thanks for the colors, it was the Pinecrest Green. I think thats the way I'm leaning, with the two-tone of India Ivory.

That is very nice, is it yours?

  19. The '56 I had was a 150, not a 210 like yours, but I left it the two tone factory greens.

  20. No, not mine... That one has the 'speedline' two-tone treatment. An alternative two-tone treatment would be everything below the driprail sherwood, and the roof only in ivory.

Any suggestions on how to repair this damage? I think most of it's hid, but I know it's there. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I did not get to much done this last week, I was able to get he body back off the frame yesterday. I figured I'd share some pictures of the high quailty brake brackets welding the axle. I can't imagine the previous owner actually drove the car like this???

Yep, Both side wrapped around the axle. I still don't understand folks. When I purchased it, he was so happy with his 4 disc brake conversion. I'm just glad I pushed it on the trailer and back off.:)

Not to much this week to get excited about. I was able to get a few patches installed and a few holes pluged. I also had to re-attached the drivers side door jam, for where I installed the new floor. If I don't get to post again before Chrsitmas, Everyone be safe and have safe travels
