So my Brothers and I have driven out to the land of Lincoln for our Grandfathers funeral. He led a long and fruitful life, and we were prepared for this day. So today we made it to the house he built in the early 60's for his family, to go through photos for the service. while we were flipping through the boxs of pictures we came upon one photo that caught our attention...this here pic of him in a single seat race car! no idea of detail about the car..other than it looks to be running a banger ford motor, and some really small wheels, also some car behind him...not sure what it is. well heres the awesomeness we discovered, if you see something that catches your eyes speak up!
They lived in the Jacksonville area for many years, i believe since 1921

Agreed, very rarely do our descendants know who we really are. You happened to learn who Grandpa was, very cool.

As stated before me, my condolences, and congratulations for the discovery of the Man and his life.

    All the best,

Thanks all for your kindness, I really do appre***ate it.
So far no story to go along with it other than my dad stating he used to work on a car before he had children. Its a long shot but I was hoping someone may recognize it.
Going to make many copies this week of all the different pics we have found, lots of history tucked away in this house!

I'll start by saying sorry for your loss. That looks like an old midget, you said land of Lincoln, are you talking Illinois area? There is a Midget club there called Power i that is promoting races, they have a long history of family in racing. Look on-line for their address and I would not be surprised if they could help you find more info. They are great folks...............

Sorry for your loss. Are you able to read the name on the cowl?

The picture is pretty washed out so I am still working on what was on the cowl. This picture to the best of my knowledge was taken in or near Jacksonville Ill.
My grandpas name would be Allen Joseph Craddock

As stated in earlier posts, it has all the ear marks of a midget. Sorry for your loss.

a monthly publication called vintage Oval Track Racing out of calif. Send them the story and the photo. This mag is very popular with the old race car crowd. I wish I was able to say something better but the best I can do is by saying .Sorry for your loss...

How about Gramps with an Offy 220 four on alcohol on the Highway for a "Tune-up" run?
