I have a 6 volt sun distributor model mdt-50. I would like to be able to test/set up GM HEI, Petronix converted, chrysler & ford electronic as well as MSD distributors. I heard people are successfully using a Chrysler electronic mid 70's era control unit as a power amplifier. I tried to hook one up (using the 5 pin style unit), but my strobe is not happy with the signal. The strobe appears to want to work but has a ghost pulse with the "real strobe". I am not convinced either flash is correct. My tester flashes correctly on points, can someone please explain to me how to use this control unit correctly as a pulse amplifier? (wish I would have coughed up the coin for a good 12 volt machine)

Have you done a goggle, EB, CL search for the SUN 12 volt adapter?
I passed on two 6 volt sun machines (one had an adapter) before getting the 12 volt I used for over 20 years (sold it).

    weld on.......
