Everyone knows about the devastation, and there isn't a damn thing I can say or write about it that hasn't been said or written a million times. Year One has established the Hot Rodders' Relief Fund, with ALL money collected to go to the American Red Cross. Year One is in a unique position to help the Red Cross--our company is set up to collect money from a lot of people (our customers) via phone orders and our internet site, and then move those funds to specific accounts--in this case, lump sums directly to the American Red Cross. Because of our infrastructure, we have these mechanisms in place already. THIS IS IMPORTANT--We have generated a specific part number for people to "order" in whatever quan***y they to donate. You want to make a $5 donation, order five of Part Number HRRF. $100 donation, order 100 of HRRF. By ***igning it a part number in this way, we are able to generate a receipt which is sent to you (which you can use for tax purposes), and we can keep track of every donation, which will be sent to the American Red Cross. Year One will not keep ANY money donated as any kind of a "processing fee" or anything else. ALL money will go to the American Red Cross. Our phone order staffers are asking all of our customers if they would like to make a donation, and our website has a prompt asking if customers would like to make a donation. We're also working with other companies to help get this going. We set this up as a way for car guys and our industry to quickly help our fellow Americans. If any of you, for ANY reason, are uncomfortable going through our fund, then PLEASE give directly to the American Red Cross. Man it's great to see people (and corporations) really putting an effort to help fellow enthusiasts and their families. Keep up the good work guys... thats great that you're doing that.
Thanks for the post Brad. Many of us would head south to help but have family of our own we have to provide for. Heavans knows the Red Cross is going through their supplies fast.
Most Corps. would take the money, donate it themselves and enjoy the tax benefit themselves. Thank him for me, I live in FL, odds are I'll need the Red Cross someday.
Great idea, the fundraising has only just begun, Harry Connick Jr & others are going to be doing a benefit concert & cd for victims. Just heard that Fats Domino who lives in New Orleans has been reported missing
Great Idea, I posted this before I read your thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68918
Its really sad hearing about all the people not accounted for.......i really feel for everyone down there as i know you all do too. Imagine if every HAMBer donated whatever they could afford, lets say a minimum of $10...... how much would that bring in? I'm a little short on cash myself right now but i will donate $100 as their need is greater than mine. Come on everyone lets do it!!! Kev.
I say we start our own HAMB fund. sending the money to one honest trust worthy hamber (if Ryans not up for it) collect it via paypal. then send it to the REDCROSS! Ill step up and ***ure you all the funds will make it to the REDCROSS with a reciept and all.
Amen brother! Put me on the list as well. I would gladly donate a c-note to those poor folks down there. Please tell me where/who to send it to.
With just a little effort everyone can do this on their own. Just contact you local red cross and find out how to donate. Your contribution can be earmarked for whatever cause you designate. This way it will save all of the middle men and get the job done. Frank
Sounds like a great idea! I will be rallying everyone at the Mosport Raceway ,NE of Toronto, to get together and donate to the Red Cross. Let's all help if we can. Thanks, JT
Thanks guys. If you want to donate right now, click on the link posted, and it will take you directly to the area we have set up on our web page. Follow the directions, and you'll be there. -Brad
A local church has been designated as a collection point for supplies, and we'll be using our 18-wheel show rig to haul the donations down to a designated collection center in Mobile, AL early next week. They gave all the employees here a list of supplies that are needed--a lot of things we all take for granted every day. Clothes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and everything else people in Third World Nations don't have. Call the Red Cross and find a donation center near you--we ALL have clothes hanging in the closet we haven't worn in years. We ALL have old children's books that haven't been looked at in years. We can ALL go to the grocery store and spend $30 on toothpaste, tooth brushes, wet-wipes, band-aides (Lord knows there are going to be a helluva lot of uses for knuckle bandaides!), cheap First Aid kits, bottles of bleach, batteries and the like. Every little bit helps. Monetary donations are great. Donating supplies is also nice, because it gets help there instantly. Your choice. But do one or the other. -Brad
