Are there any chrome-platers with good reputations for quality finished products in or close by Amarillo, TX? My mentor at Vermillion Editions Limited, the printmaking company owned by my university, WTAMU, is looking for a good chrome-plater within reasonable distance from here to do some pieces for the shop. We googled for businesses in Amarillo and it doesn't seem like there are any. One of them might be a chrome-plater but we don't know. He plans to call and see on Monday. While we're at it, has anyone here ever used this business listed below?

    Chrome Machine & Casting
    Indian Hills Rd
    Amarillo, TX 79101
    (806) 358-3636

However, this is also an on topic thread as I'd like to know myself for when I get some pieces done for my personal hot rod project.

ANY suggestions, experiences, etc are welcome! Good or bad, let us know who to do business with or whose business to avoid!

  3. I think you're gonna be going to Dallas or Austin to get it done Matt. I couldn't find anything near us. I thought about taking parts to the guy I used in Cali.

My mentor found one in Oklahoma City as well. I was expecting that answer about having to travel but it wouldn't hurt to see if there's a place close by one last time before deciding on traveling for chrome.

    Crossing my fingers.

A couple of years ago I helped a buddy build a 57 short wide and about all that he could come up with was to drop it off at what used to be Miller Bumper and let them ship the stuff to I think it was El Paso. At one time, Haynie's Body Kraft was advertising chrome plating, but they also sent the stuff off elsewhere. Other than that I think the only other "close place was in the DFW area !! Let me know what you come up with, if you dont mind because I am going to be needing some chrome in the near future !!

For years I have been using a place in the Dallas/Mesquite area called Economy plating. When you drive up to the place your first thought is no way but they do great work and I have never gone there and been disappointed. The last thing I had plated was the bumper for my VW they straightened it first, then chromed it and charged me $110.00. I think thats a good price because I kept my original German bumper. They are off of 635 running thru Dallas and they are open half a day on Saturday. They always have parts ready for pick up so you can see their work before you leave your stuff.

Yep. Looks like a trip to Dallas will have to happen.

That's not a bad price at all. Sounds like I should check this place out. Thanks, man.

I haven't used them personally, but I've heard the longest part
they can do is 4 feet. That lets out a lot of bumpers.

  13. I was about to tell Texas Speed there were not any chrome shops in/near Amarillo. Lots of Hambers from here that probably like me would like to know more about your shop...triple plate, etc? I don't do facebook, btw, as I'm sure alot of other Hambers don't. If you don't want to post info here, send me your Tel #
