I got one of those forwarded emails in a group that I belong to and this link was attached: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/BurnOneDown/kcsp.mov A friend said I could get more info here. Anyone know who this car belongs to or have any details on what has been done to it? Specifically the motor?
Ok, I think I get it. The car idling and holding the camera guy has a flathead. I knew that didn't sound like a flathead motoring by! Does Ryan have email?
Sometimes my stupidity amazes me. I just put one and two together. This is the same car that was in Rod and Custom magazine last year. And Ryan is the Jalopy Journal guy. Geesh, sorry Ryan! I'd be very interested to know the real stats of the car as far as what it runs and what all you have done to the drivetrain and suspension. I've seen pictures where it sits really low and pictures where it is a bit higher, so I am guessing airbags. I am curious because I am basically building a clone of your car in sedan form. SoCal speedshop will be doing much of the work, but I'll be doing the details and the leg work. Pictures would be great. Thank you for your time! Freddie!
Word. Thanks for the compliments. I'm wondering what email had that link though? Freaks me out a bit! As for the car, it's pretty simple... Small block Chevy, 4-spd, and a 9-inch. Suspended by bags up front (home made mustang 2 type suspension) and coil-overs in the rear (triangulated 4-link). The car was really the first (and only at this point) car that I have built from the ground up. I'm not a very talented wrench or fabricator, so I kept it as simple as possible and got lots of help from pals. With the current motor setup, its quickest time is 12.98 at 114 or 15 mph. Traction has always been a bit of a problem, but that just makes it more fun...
I've watched the video 5 times in the last few minutes. The guys at work now all have links to it... so all over the office, I hear that high revving burnout. .... kinda like singing 'row... row... row... your boat' in the round!
Hey Ryan..., I often wondered What would happen if your Cheater Slicks really cheated and hooked up...!!!!!! My 13 second roadster did just that ONE day and it ran a 10.92 at 123 mph and I had a 60 ft time of 1.56 seconds...!!!! Again it did this only ONCE..., all the rest of the times I just put on a smoke and noise show for my own amu*****t as well as others that were around...!
The car felt like it hooked up pretty well on the 12 second p*** last year, but folks told me it was spinning pretty good... I certainly don't think that car would ever run anywhere near the 10s or 11s... and my mph would go wayyy down with traction I think...
that's cool, I had forgotten that video was still up actually... If I remeber correctly, my 60' times were in the 2.0 to 2.1 range...
look at the miles per hour. Most racers generally agree each time the tire spins one time it cost .010 second ET. With those miles pr hr and it locked down it might see some 12.0's
