Great article, thanks for sharing it. Coincidentally I just ran across pics of the flattie powered MG-TC you mentioned.
Very cool stuff. This thread wakes up after being asleep for three years. Doanne Spencer is one of my heros. I have always appreciated his methods of constructing a fine machine and admire his accomplishments. His T-Bird was the ultimate in my book. He left this earth much too soon!
Thank you, octard, for adding all this knowledge. I still haven't found any detailed pictures of the HSC MGB and Healey, but I keep hoping that somebody will turn them up.
Ronnie Bucknum taking his boss Chic Vandagriff for a Victory ride. Chic owned Hollywood Sportscars and Ronnie drove Chic's MGB that was prepared by Doane Spencer. photo ... Cris Vandagriff collection . <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_3343807--><!-- THE POST -->
Couple more pics of the Healey, not much detail though: Ronnie Bucknum and Chic Vandagriff of HSC Ronnie Bucknum And here's a 1962 Sports Car Graphic article showing pictures of Doane with the Healey motor on the dyno and detailing the mods: http://www.healey6.com/Technical/Dyno.pdf

Thanks again, guys. I remember these cars well from watching them run in Cal Club events in the early '60s, but I think they are much less well known than Doane's roadster, his T-Bird, and the Tiger. They were exceptionally nice cars, and I thought they deserved a bit more exposure on the HAMB.
I know I have posted this pic elsewhere on the HAMB, but its a good one, and it belongs here. Far right, thrashing on Amons Ferrari, Edmonton, 1969. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
