hey guys i picked up a 55' hudson wasp unibody, wondering if anyone has ever put a frame under one of these?
Not stock. about 2 years ago I say a 54 that had all fabricated square tubing frame with Mustang ll front. 4 link rear. I think I missed your introduction,
i dont think i did one.. new to the site.. the reason im asking is that the unibody supports in the rear dont really exist im gunna do an air ride system on it. so need the frame to b able to b c notched to slam it. so i was just wondering some insight
The 55 Wasp is actually a Rambler body. The last Hudson bodies were 54's. Are you going to use the stock motor or go with another. Did not catch the location? Hud
ya im using the original 3.3l and hydro matic trans, it runs awesome. im thinking im going to take the original support out and replace it all with some 2x3" box tubing and go thru and do a s***ch weld every so often and weld it to the body of the car.. floor pans need work anyways. opinions?
Yes it is all Rambler. The only parts that were Hudson was the motors. The 55-56 Wasp used the 202 and the 55-57 Hornets used the 308. The 55 wasp boby was a little much for the little 202. One used the Statesman body and another body was used for the other. I don't remember the other. They used body's they already had. Hope this helps. Hud
that helps alot.. there alot of build threads on ramblers to help me with some ideas this is what she looks like
I acquired a Super Jet in the spring and the 202 was designed for that car. I am in the process of doing research on the little motor. I have read a lot of reviews of both the Jet and the 55 Wasp. In the Jet it was one heck of a motor. The wt. to hp ratio was about 25 to 1. In the Wasp it was a lot more. Plus add power steering and a/c with power whatever, the little had to put out. It is one peppy engine from what I read. I would like to get a 55 or 56 engine before I start to build. With the twin h and the alum. head it was rated at 114. I have read in some of the 55 literature that it had 124 hp. The most accepted number is 114. Hope this helps. Hud
ive read alittle bit on the motor bt nt much.. only have the car for 2 weeks now.. they say that the 55 wasp with the hydro matic trans will top out at 88 mph.. im nt worried to much on the fast aslong as i can go on the highway. the motor may come out at some point bt i figuer for now since it runs and im trying to do a cheap budget build the stock will do.. thanks for all the info hud been a big help
