any fellow Hambers worked with 5 wire linear actuators? I know the blue & green are up/down, but what about the smaller black, red & yellow? I'm using these to raise/lower the hood on my 55 f100. thanks, Bob
Normally the extra wires are for a feedback loop, so a controller knows the position of the actuator. They will give position of the actuator by a changing voltage output. Typically, Red is +5 or +12 V, Black is ground, and Yellow is the signal (0-5 V or 0-12 V).
You don't have to get real fancy or need a degree in Electrial Engineering. I just used a 6 pole , on/ off / on momentary rocker switch, for the hood and the trunk of a 48Chev Aero Cp. Wired it like shown. Just have to make 2 jumper wires , and pig tail them to two poles going to actuator. in other words the switch shown is wired ,now you have to tie it into the actuator wires just make a jumper from one of the black and one of the red right to the actuator wires.
thanks for the help. does the black wire need to be grounded, or does the unit ground itself? it doesn't seem heavy enough for a ground. thanks again, Bob
thanks for the reply. I was actually wondering about the small black wire on the actuator. thanks, Bob
