Quite a bustling metropolis back in the day. I can't believe all the traffic on what was then a fairly new highway system back in 1954. No wonder it's such a cluster **** out there now!!:)

What an awesome clip! I'm still pissed off that I was born into the ****tiest generation possible. I'm nostalgic for an era that existed 50 years before I was cognizant that it ever happened...

Having never lived during that era, I tend to take for granted that our hot rods and customs were everyday sources of transportation. Great clips!

What Ford Plant? All I saw was the Chevrolet Plant. All teasing aside, those old movies are always fun to watch. A time capsule.

You just reminded me of the movie, "Devil On Wheels". I'll have to watch it again, tonight.

Did Google Earth last night looking for the oil derricks in back of the truckload of Fords, didn't see any, wonder if they are now gone, saw a couple of stripper wells...remember when Signal Hill was covered with derricks.

For #2, the car leaving the lot is a British built Ford Prefect.

My grandpa drove his 1947 Ford 2-door until 1961 when he bought a new Full-sized Fairlane 2-door. Optioned just like the 1948, a V8 and radio! Instead of foreign cars we had Kiaser, studebaker, nash, neat cars each one. Thanks for the memories....

  23. Love the shot of the cashier at a grocery store - no scanners or debit card machine in sight, and a big old manual cash register. Also, note the lack of parking meters anywhere. Thanks.

I noticed the girl punching the till at the supermarket - and noted the cheap prices of the items she was ringing up
