Hi, Just got my Dad's old model a. It hasn't been run in 32 years, but we had fun in it when I was a kid. Dad made sure it was the 1st car I drove. I will be restoring it - not as a hot rod, but with some modifications. Hydraulic brakes - I have a Maverick 5 bolt rear axle, but can't find a 4.5" front hydraulic drum conversion yet. I will convert to 12 volt. Plan to buy TBI kit meant for ford 200 cid I6 to use on Model A 4 banger. This website looks like a good place to get ideas.

Yes on hooking the A 4 banger to the Maverick rear end. More gear ratios available for the Mav rear. Also, have heard of people breaking the banjo rear axles with the torque of the 4 banger. TBI is to have it run better than the carb since TBI has a feedback loop with the O2 sensor. I'm keeping the 4 banger in for sentimental reasons, but also want drive it for more than occasional parade/swap meet.

Haven't decided for sure on ******. Thinking about borg warner either T5 or T18. I have several T18s but no T5s. T5 would shift easier, but T18 would look close to original in cab of the car.
