try NAPA, you will be surprised what they can source for you...if the guy behind the counter gives a damn.

    otherwise, try Bob's Automobilia

No, there is a Buick parts guy in New Jersey but his phone number doesn't work. If the sockets are a NAPA deal knowing the part number would be a great help. Getting over my fear of electricity is going to take a lot of time, polishing the lenses is going well.

  10. You need the whole socket or just the contact/pigtail? Usually the guts will refurb it.

All I have is the two original '53 Buick housings with the stock socket. They take a SAME depth bayonet bulb and the pigtail side is SAME depth as well. I could drill out the rivets and upgrade to something more common, but figured there must be 50-75 old '53 Buicks out there with working light sockets or reproduction sockets. Electrical Club it a tough one to break into. Bob :)

Yeah if that's all he needs... The guts are available at any parts store. I did this with the ones on my car.

You can buy a dual element bayonet bulb socket assembly and remove the wire, contacts, spring etc and install that in the old sockets. Just clean them up good so they'll ground the bulb good.

Some places you may find just the wire kit by itself, but where I went I had to buy the whole thing and remove the guts.

Wish me luck, I'll stop by NAPA tomorrow with the base. I'm betting they won't have anything. Still hoping to make my Daytona 500 weekend dead line. Bob

If you still can't get something to work... send me a PM and I'll give you the phone number of a junk yard here in WV that has a lot of those old Buick's... I know he'll remove parts and ship them and is fairly reasonable on stuff like that.

I know the parts you need are plastic with 2 wires that push in and twist lock in place but I don't know where to buy..

My NAPA sockets arrived part #LS6252. First step is to remove the old brass socket that is pressed into the stainless body, hope the new socket it a tight fit. Do i have to index the socket so the filiments are in a special position? If so is the larger one on top or bottom?

Thanks! I do index tire valve stems with the tire logos, so guess I'm free to set the sockets/bulbs were I want them. Bob :)
