Stardate September 1, 2005. 5 weeks until the Pileup invades Grundy County.

    Updates...

    Bands:
As noted before, HAMB's own Shaun Young, unfortunately, had to cancel (we'll miss ya lil' buddy!). It was tough to replace Shaun, but we got Chicago's roots rock/rockabilly/country band THE RIPTONES to play. These guys kick out a killer set. You won't be disappointed. We're trying to work something out with a band now to replace Dangerville.

    Camping:
The Fairgrounds have approved camping and RVing in the field in front. You will need to check in with them. There will not be any water or other hook ups (but there is a Walmart down the street for you RV'ers). You will absolutely have to clean up after yourselves before you leave.

    Flame throwing:
Nothing definite, but it looks like we can have the rodeo circle for flame-throwing... which means there's no excuse for driving around and doing it.

    BEER:
We finally got reconnected with Pabst Blue Ribbon and they've come through with more PBR swag and FREE beer. yay Pabst!

Fool's Bar where the pre/post show parties are a'happenin' is ordering extra PBR just for us. :D

    Hotels:
It's looking more and more like the hotels we listed on the site are SOLD OUT. I don't think they are the ONLY ones in town, so I suggest doing an online yellow pages search or going through Travelocity for hotels in Morris, IL or nearby. Travelocity will save you money and has some rooms listed that the hotel desk doesn't

    Over and out!

  2. i booked at the super 8 via expedia.com a couple of weeks ago and got a killer rate of 49 bucks a night.

I may have 1 king and 2 double bed(3 rooms total) non smoking rooms availeable at the Comfort Inn in Morris. My group and I will talk about it this weekend. With the price of gas what it is I can't afford $3-400 in gas to get there and back. I will let you know next week.....Mike

Whats the chances of getting the street in front of the bar blocked off for the cars?

Remember the police station is across the street, I like that element of danger.

Actually, that's in the works. The Mayor is a car guy and is happy we're there. The bar owners are former/current firemen, so are in tight with the cops... for example, some ***** parked in a JUDGE's parking space after repeatedly being told NOT to by Magnet. Instead of writing a ticket and towing his car, the cops came into the bar, found the guys, and asked him to move it. Anyway, the bar owners said they will definitely have the block in front of the bar reserved and are trying to get more space, including a parking lot reserved for Pileup cars. Morris is a big car town.

$300-400 in gas?! better tune those carbs! :D

Alright so gas is expensive, we all knew that this was inevitable. Save all you change for the next five weeks and bite the bullet. We all know that this is a "do not miss event". That being said I probablly will spent only 60 bucks there and back. :)

Well sweetheart, since you can't possible live 1300 miles away from Morris, IL:rolleyes: , your fuel cost estimate is alittle high.:D

Your 350 miles one way to Morris, IL, roundtrip 700 miles.
Divide that by approx 15 miles per gallon (or whatever MPG your ride gets)
then x that by $3.50 per gallon and your fuel for your round trip will be approx $163.33. Have a friend come with you and split the cost:D

:D No I don't live 1300 miles away but the wife wanted to bring her Buick so that would be for 2 cars. Sorry should have stated that. Anyway we may carpool down and only use one or two rooms.

sorry, I must've missed that request. I'm going to say no. The bar will have a bouncer there and I ***ume he'll be checking IDs. It's a small town, but the polise station is literally right across the street.

Now, just because you can't get INTO the bar doesn't mean you can't see and hear the bands. How is that possible, you ask? Well, last year the bands set up right infront of the big window in the front of the bar. Not quite like being there, but pretty close... and there will be a lot of people hanging out in front shooting the **** as always.

Yeah, hanging out in front was cool. You could hear the bands pretty well from what I remember. THere was quite a crowd out there and plenty of cars.
