This is my 1928 es*** 3 winder coupe build... 36 chevy truck frame... Sbc... 4 speed... Blah blah blah... This is when i first got it home... The ol lady cought me making vroom vroom noises... the next weekend i brought this frame home... Everyone was telling me to just "build a frame" but i think that it takes away from the character of the car... Old car+old frame =cool...
good luck, looks like a good start. I built my frame, but like the looks of yours. I have a few pics of mine here floating around if you have any questions.
Es*** cars have great style. Rich Venza did a '29 sedan in the seventies. He is on here. You should ask him the details.
At some point sombody welded the spring hanger on... skinny wheel fixed it... got the girlfrend in the shop to help clean it up... blah blah blah... tack welded some cross members and cut the drame horns off...
I got the rivets drilled out and pulled out all the stock cross members... and my girlfreind caught me again... Sometimes having a chick that likes to hang out in the shop can come back to bite you in the ***!
I was trying to figure out how much i wanted to "z" the rear... i was worried that this wouldnt be very "traditional" but i did it with a skinny wheel and bent it with my knee. So i guess it could by a punk kid in a single car garoge "back in the day" because i just did it! here is how it fit...
I picked up some 35 ford wheels for 60 bucks at the swap meet... So i stuck em up next to the car and did some dreaming...
I set the body on the frame... i am channelling the body flush with the frame... its starting to take shape...
I put the mock up engine in so i could start on motor mounts and ****** mount... here is the saginaw 4 speed... my old lady stole my car... But she wont make it far...
Been getting the floors and firewall tacked in the car... Im not running the tunnell ram it was just sitting around so i had to set it on there...
Well... Thats where im at as of now... Im gonna quit ****in around and go freeze my balls off in the shop! Im gonna kick old man winter in the ****!
Really? But it doesnt have rubber rats all over it! Hell i dont know. Its going to be chopped and channelled pretty far but other than that... It was never ment to be a r** r**...
Cool to see a hot rod built from a less often-seen make. rr? I see no rr paraphernalia, and you didn't mention a rust finish. Engine sits pretty frickin' high though...lol. Good luck. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Thanks. I saw a Hudson at a car show and I fell in love with it. So when I found the es*** it was a no brainer... I know it's probably not 100% trad-rod but I figured maybe since it wasn't sitting on an s10 frame and wasn't apoulstered with license plates I wouldn't be condemned to hell... Haha!
i always like the es*** builds. they always give me ideas. i have a 27, haven't started on it yet, it's all apart. have to finish the 53 hornet first.
i got the front end mocked up this weekend... and i found a 58 GMC column and steering box that im shortening and running as a cowl steering setup... i got it mocked into place with a 2 by 4... high tech...
i have a set of 47? (i think) squareback spindles with juice brakes i was going to rin on this model a axle. i have never swaped spindles before. i was wondering if i can re use the king pins with the 47 spindles? everything still seems tight and they are still in the 47 axle...
