Got some inspiration today, so I pulled the 59 ElCamino out to do some repairs and get her ready for winter driving. Heater, wipers and some under hood clean up. While tracing the wire for the wiper back to the switch, I bumped something and lit off a portion of the wiring harness. Looks like the light switch hot. Lotsa smoke for sure. I've been contemplating some additions anywas, so looks like I got a new winter project. Just as I got her running good too. Gotta love it.
Yep, you just confirmed 100% that you have an old car. Pretty much anything can need fixing at any minute.
Had one of those days too, everything I touched went to shit, I had to lay down for a bit to cool off, and then I roasted some tires to make me feel better. Atleast your cars O.K though.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/prf-70107/overview/ A great addition to isolate problem areas in your electrical system. You can use your present wiring harness, and add the items that might be giving you problems to this. It's a work around. .
Sweet Elco! Bummer about the electrical problem. I've had a couple '62 Impalas. Always had trouble keeping the wipers working. Great heaters, though! Do you need a heater where you live?
Thanks Rocky. Thats what I was looking for. Giddyup, There is actually a chance of Snow this week where I live. I am up in the Hills above San Jose, at about 2600 feet, So the heater/ defroster is a must.
Althogh it sucks now, its better than letting the smoke out while going down the road and possiby burning that beauty up. think of it as somebody watchin out for ya
