When I installed my front shackle mounts on my 55 Chevy, I was not sure how much the springs would flatten out, so I tacked my mounts in place. Once the motor, ******,radiator support and radiator, nose etc where bolted back on, I let the suspension settle while I worked on other areas of the car. In the matter of a few weeks , the new springs settled enough that I had to move the mounts ahead almost 3/4" to get the correct angle. It has remained the same for 3+ years. They were much easier to move than they would have been had I welded them on solid. ;)
