Rolls & Pleats for when I just want to look at pic after pic of cool cars. Not alot of "filler" in that little mag. I always get Custom Rodder. It seems to be one of the only mags that constantly gives a nod to the 60's custom crowd and that's what I'm into.
I`ve been to your fair and pleasant land loads of times and never heard Ol Skool Rodz lingo spoken anywhere.....do they write the script for johnny bravo as well? monkey
I subscribe to Street Rod Builder,HotRod and Street Rodder. An I guess I prefer them in that order. SRB because there is often enough information to do something,HR for the news and it has gotten WAY better and SR for the ads and what's happening. Rodder's Journal is too rich for my budget-I'd rather spend th emoney on parts and I need more hands on stuff right now,not art.

I love TRJ as much or more than everyone, but is it really an EXPENSIVE quarterly magazine or a CHEAP quarterly book? Seven or eight bucks more than most magazines and seven to 10 bucks cheaper than most books. I've paid 20 bucks for many books that were not nearly as good as any one issue of TRJ. It would be easy to top any list when you are 3 times as expensive as any of your "compe***ors".
I like OSRodz.,Speed and Chrome, and I guess I have to like Garage, 'cause your always such a "poser" with all you KOOL drawings!!! well, so what!! I would like Garage, even if you weren't there!! Anyways, whats up HOLMES ???
I read Ol'skool, Garage, Rod and Kulture, Rod and Custom, Custom Rodder, Auto Restorer and Lowrider. The first three I like because they are about what I'm into for the most part, greasers and lowbrow cars. Ol' skool sometimes can be a little hard to read though, not to be an ***hole, but it almost seems like it is written by high school kid for an english cl*** ***ignment. What I like in a magazine is pictures of cars that I could built, it doesn't need to be nothing but "Rat rods", but boydster $100,000 cars just don't apeal to me. Something that I don't like is when there is a tech article and they show you how to do something with very expensive specialized tools.Another thing is when they write a tech article that is just a commericial for a certain product. Hope any of this helps your "study".
Got it bad too! Get all those plus Dice, Garage, Hot Rod, Street Rodder, American Rodder, Street Rod Builder, Super Rod and Goodguys Gazette. Damn- that's just the car magazines!!!

Ha Ha Ha...Yeah, the last car in NWGI was the Pope-Mobile, and that was back in the much publisized April '78 Issue that featured a young Sally Fields and an AK-47. Both stripped down...Wow. good times. Glad you read Rod and Kulture. Spike
Kustoms Illustrated: Each issue is packed full of photos of gorgeous killer customs that still look down to earth enough to be driven and enjoyed. Articles are short, well written and to the point.
Lately AMERICAN RODDER has taken over as my favorite mag. The large format is cool, and they cover a variety of interesting cars and tech stuff with nice photos. I don't neccessarily like everything they feature, but I like the mag overall, and reach for it first at the bookstore. I've been buying it every month lately. John Dianna's editorials are hard to read, though. He brought up a good point this month, in discussing era-specific builds, but his writing style doesn't flow well. I think he's done a great job bringing the magazine back to a respectable level, though. KUSTOMS ILLUSTRATED is a great mag, too. I don't like the little format, but the quality of the mag makes up for it's minimal size. Great stuff, well written and thoughtfully laid out. I'm also impressed with HOT ROD these days. Heavy on the ads and fluff, but they've been doing some cool features recently. Furby's done an excellent job getting that one turned around. But, if you're asking for ONE favorite car mag...AMERICAN RODDER as of now.
I read whatever appeals to me off the rack. Rod&Custom, Rodders Journal, Rodders Digest, Street Rodder...whatever else I can find. Basicly, whatever has an article or car in it that strikes my fancy. I guess Rn'C has been the most consistant...although I DO get an early ROD ACTION feel from the Rodders Digest...and like Martha says, "Thats a good thing!"

Grew up with Lowrider, Slowly worked my way to R&C and Easyrider, finally ended up writing for Garage. Just happens that way I guess, but I enjoy 'em all. I find worth in all of them and get ideas from different things. Thank God for such crossover and diverse selections.
Lets see...mostly R&C(as long as something appeals to me)..sometimes Custom Rodder(same reasoning),..Street customs (for my closet lowrider addiction)
TRJ is it for me, followed by Car Craft and Hot Rod. Car Craft has been steadily improving under Freiburger's leadership, but I read the editorial in the newest one, and he's out of there again. I guess it will slowly slide back downhill again under the next editor's direction, like it has before.
