Looking a 33-34 build pictures it seems that many grills are very low with little ground clearance. How much ground clearance is standard? What would be considered the minimum clearance?

I'm shootin for 4-5 inches. Thinking of building a heavy "chin", painted black to go under the tip of the grille to protect it from road hazards...still in the "thinking" stage for mine.

Considering the cost of a '33 '34 grill I would be on the conservative side..........................

If the bottem of the shell is folded under it's too low!:D

Seriously,,3 to 4 inches you should be safe if you use caution entering and exiting parking lots. HRP

If he was running fenders it would be even lower! Is OP running fenders?
Nice build by the way flatheadpete, one of my favorites if it means anything!

..... a bit of common sense should be used, even if grill is not perfect. at least install some type of protection for lower end of grill. at some time will go over something too high, or too close, and you likely say something more than Oops!

A buddy of mine had his 34 redone and we'll use that term loosely. The front fender connector, point, are whatever it's called was 2 1/2" off the ground. He couldn't pull in his driveway without it dragging. Anyway, I was able to raise it to 4 1/2", at least he can drive it now.

The grill shell on the red 34' is exactly 3 1/4" off of the ground. I just measured it. In fact I laid the shell back 6 degrees with the top being the fulcrum to give me more clearance otherwise it would be resting on the ground. It worked out rather well because the angle of the grill matches the angle of the A pillar that I leaned back when chopping it 3". In my hill billy opinion it gives the side view a more pleasing look with the the 2 vertical angles matching being the grill & A pillar.

Nice ride, Pete. By the way... "sick" means it's bad ***.;)

That look is why I think 34's are cooler than 32's.
