Are there any HAMB vendors that sell the wide trailer straps? Where can I buy decent ones for a fair price? Christmas is coming and I'm making my wish list...Yipee.

  2. You'll pay a bundle at a heavy truck supplier, and they usually have the wrong ends for what we are doing. Summit has some decent ones in the trailer section of their catalog, but, they're a little pricey, especially once you add in shipping. Honestly, the best deal I've ever seen is at the large auto swap meets. There's usually a guy selling them, and they are exactly the style we need with the right end hooks, and ***orted axle straps. You can usually get a good package deal outfitting your whole trailer as well.

Just saw a set advertised in Hot Rod magazine.
Macstiedowns.com Decent price on a set of four.

  4. I had some Summit ones and found that they were over-rated. I wouldn't have used them on any kind of car only a motorcycle.

I had my ratchet straps and axle straps custom made by Hanes Supply: http://www.hanessupply.com/content/default.aspx

Very reasonable for what you get.

I've also seen M&R at Carlisle with some desent products: http://mrproducts.com/

I started buying at the Swap Meet, but ended up dealing directly with the owners via the telephone and their website.

They are usually pretty busy at the swap meet, so it is nice to have an uninterrrupted conversation with them. They are very, very helpful.

    here is there website: http://www.strapman.com/

I would give them the highest recommendation.

  8. speedways 10K pd rating are worth the money, i wore out a couple but did a lot of shows
the swap meet ones are way light but i would use them for real short hauls
but when i go 750 miles one way i want something that aint gonna break

i have alum stops in front of the car
and i usually use 2 sets of straps on the rear in case of crash one set straight those are light ones and one set x ed which are the 10,000 pd rating
if you load the car crooked you can tighten one side more and after a few hundred miles the car will move over and straighten out

when i run stock car i just run harbor freight straps over 2 of the wheels and felt safe

but on a enclosed trailer hook up is confined and who wants a car crashing when hauling

Thanks. I think I bought my short axle straps from the "strapman" at a swapmeet...I'll give him a call.

NOW, what else do I want for Christmas...hmmmm, wonder if I was naughty or nice this year?
