I have been seeing this on my way to work, but it's dark most of the time when I p***. I was in the area last weekend and snapped these driveby shots. It appears to be a 58 Volvo and the window states the asking price $400.00. It is not my gig but I thought with the diversity someone here might have a soft spot for these. If interested PM me and I will get the phone number for you.[IMG]

I like these things for some strange reason. Must be Columbo's influence!

They do make neat little Kustoms too.

Lots of potential here. They have the lines and style similar to the 46-48 Fords, only smaller. A Range Rover/Land Rover V-8, 4speed combo with an upgraded suspension would make a good solid cruiser. Complete the body as you like, maybe mild 46 Ford custom look.

I've always thought that one of those would make a slick little mini custom or hot rod. The price sure looks right if it has a ***le with it.

  12. Yes they are cool little cars, the 544 was my daily years ago with wifey and 3 little ones. No seat belts and one kid on the floor, bolted the two kids car seats down.
They are 3/4 copies of a 48 Ford, door latches are identical but 3/4 scale. They have kingpins and yet independent A arms, damb good handling. The early engines were nothing too exciting, but the later 2 Liter was a revving machine and tough as hell. Lots of forged engine parts.

Colombo drove a PUG (Peugeot 403) I've seen a few similar modified Volvos on the HAMB.

I had a nice one of those about thirty years ago we use to use it as a parts chaser, always thought of Hot Rodding it but there were to many others ahead of it.

  19. It sure is priced right and probably rock solid to boot. But, I already have a '64 version.

A friend of mine turned one of these into a trailer that he tows behind his 46 Ford Tudor. He's a really talented metal man and the trailer is really nice. It's not obvious that it is made from the Volvo - but the shape matches the Ford. Maybe I can find a picture to post.
