  3. Ive got a 56 and the front cap parts where rough. And there hard to find in my area. So I put a 55 front cap on it. It kinda grew on me . I like it better that way. Im really digging this build thread. Old Wolf

Thank you Wolf. Kevin , the motor is a .030 over 454 , stock crank , eagle rods, JE 12.5 pistons, with my 107 cc combustion chamber 840 casting rectangular port heads. Its got a custom ground comp .714 lift roller in it, Victor Jr intake and i havent got a carb yet, but probably a 950 holley hp. The trany is a reverse manual valve body turbo 375(yes you read that correct) that has been worked over, and the guy guarantees it up to 1000 hp. We have a Dana 60 narrowed up running a spool with 4.10 gear. My only big regret is not getting a damn transbrake, next year i guess. With all that said, im really hoping to put her in the mid 10s.

Yeah you have to make it to the Meltdown Drags and, before you buy a carb go check out pro systems just Google them. They are hands down the best carbs out there and they are almost exactly the same price as a mail order Holley only without the guess work.
They guarantee to be within a jet size and each carb is built to your exact combination.

That might stop spring bind, but it will still bind when the axle travels vetically. The rear is solid to the axle, so the front will move straight up also, and that will try to compress the shackle up front. They should have mounted the shackle at a 45 degree angle, not straight up.

Im doing mine from the other direction also, i am mounting the shackle below the front ladder bar mount.

That makes better sense. I was going to comment about the video but just figured I'd sit it out till someone said something. The clips version had me thinking that if the shackle angle wasn't right, things could get worse than better. Not to mention a violent unspringing if you had to back pedal all of a sudden.

So i messaged pro systems, the carb they are building sounds pretty bad ***, gonna be a 1000 cfm 4150 using dominator metering blocks, he said typically i should see a 25 to 35 hp advantage over a stock 4150, and the price is just like you said, same if not cheaper then summit. thanks for the heads up.

No problem. You won't regret the carb or the "Meltdown Drags".

In tonight's turgid episode we look at the ramifications of a big block in a Chevy Bel Air, or "Does this big block make me look fat?"

Since we are in there already, may as well move it back a little.

Picked up some fenderwell headers today, they will have to prolly be modified to fit since they came from a blazer, but at least its a starting point, i think we are gonna step them anyway, so this should work nice.
