Can someone tell me where I could get a stock 1948 chevy P/U heater rebuilt. I have the heater and would like to use it in my build if I could find someone that could install a new core, etc. Thanks
What I'm looking for is a new core. The rad shops I've called around my area have never rebuilt or know of a supplier for a replacement for a 1948 chev heater core. The rest of the heater ***'m. looks good. Is there a company that can supply a new core for this heater ?. Any leads would be great no matter their location.
I thought about one but repaired mine instead...http://www.google.com/search?q=GMC+heater+core&rlz=1C1GPEA_enUS313US313&oq=GMC+heater+core&sugexp=chrome,mod=12&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&gs_nf=3&gs_rn=1&gs_ri=serp&ds=sh&pq=GMC%20heater%20core&cp=5&gs_id=x&xhr=t&q=round%20GMC%20heater%20core&pf=p&rlz=1C1GPEA_enUS313US313&tbm=shop&sclient=psy-ab&oq=round+GMC+heater+core&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.1355325884,d.cGE&fp=68ed797e77d2f475&bpcl=39967673&biw=1326&bih=699
I don't see a heater core in Chev's Of The Fourtys cataloge, but I will call them on Monday. Thanks guys.
Is your core a spiral type or the flat type? If the spiral type, i think your best option is to find a good old radiator repair shop and have them rebuild yours. The good thing is the old ones are pretty robust and can usually be patched up. If yours is flat, then you can also get it rebuilt. However if flat, you might be able to find a replacement for a different application that could work. You will have to search the catalog with dimensions. You may need to have different tubes soldered in, but that's an option to consider.
