Picked this up at an auction last Wed. 55 Chrysler New Yorker, 331 HEMI, 250 horsepower. Power steering and brakes. Complete car intact with keys in the ignition. Supposedly ran 5 years ago, stored inside. Motor turns over. Haven't had time to play with it to see if it runs and how good. Looks like another keeper motor if it runs ok. Is this my A's new power plant? Time will tell. Fordnutz.
bag it and have a new daily to cruise in, family style!!! Take a buffer to it so the patina shines through shinny pain, I love that look.
A good mate brought one of those into New Zealand a few months back. It is the only 4 door down here. He only wanted the motor but ended up with the complete car. Runs and drives well, just smokes a lot.
Keep the car intact and drive the wheels off it. The mid 50's mopar's are great cruising cars. Of course I'm partial to 55 Chryslers.
use the hemi in the A and put the land yacht in safe dry storage, maybe put a more modern drivetrain, 440/727? in it later.
I concur... unless of course you want to ship the motor to me and s**** the rest to cover the freight charges. You don't? OK - keep the car too. Just thought I'd ask... A 360/727 combo wouldn't be a bad choice either for the transplant donor. Put that Hemi in the A and shred the treads!!!
The car itself does nothing for me. Too new. I am seriously considering putting the engine in my someday stockpile. Gonna do the A with a small block chev for now, cause I got a tri power and all the neat old 50's accessories for it. But someday the hemi could take its place. Fordnutz.

Nuttin like a hemi to power anything! Have you ever heard a cammed up mini-hemi?? You will never go back to generic again....
Bought a '56 Desoto once; been sitting for years. Towed it home with a chain, & on the way I kept feeling it pull hard. Stopped to asked if the brakes were grabbing, & my driver said he was trying to start it. Next stop sign I feel it pull again & then VRRRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!! Went back to listen to it & ask him what he'd done to get it to start - & he said "turned on the key"! Car ran well: been so long ago I don't recall what I did with it.... ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" You braggin' or complainin'?
