55 olds 88 - planning to install aftermarket power windows. Do I need to keep any of the old window parts/hardware besides the glass itself?

In fact, I'll need to buy new side glass as well anyway.

    Thanks!

never ever throw anything away till after the job is fininshed. you will miss it when it's gone.

  3. What does the kit provide? If it just adds motors you're going to need to keep all the regulators and arms etc.

Just like fastcar sed... keep everything.

depends on the kit you use. but i would still keep everything til they are working. pretty sure you will need the window track. be sure to install new window channel also. may bind if you don't. make sure to get relays . not just hot wire to switch.

Thanks everyone, I'll squirrel away all of the parts until I'm ready to do the install.

Sure hope I don't have to make an opening like that on mine to make it work......!?!?!

    :)

My 55 f100 had power windows....took a square ford motor ( have lots of them) and meshed them with the orig ford regulators....these worked great for 8 years until I sold the truck...

My 51 ford had the same set up on the pass side only....worked great for 8 years until I sold it...

Did the same to the fleetline in the avatar space on the pass side....what a pain...even used one of these ford motors I have...it was also a direct fit.

The most important decision if you do this is to get the correct angle the motor needs to set at to clear all the other door and window stuff....on the chevy, I had to cut the door metal to get the PW reg in the door.
