I just freed my stuck 270 motor and was excited about pickling it for storage while i complete some more immediate needs on my 42gmc pickup. I bought the 270 w/o the oilpan under the mistaken impression that the oil pan from my donor 228 would fit. I'm not sure where I got that impression, but it was furthered by the fact that the gaskets are the same. It's too shallow due to the pickup which means i can't pickle. Any ideas what oilpan fits?
    Thanks.

I think you mite have a military oil pan, use the pick up off your 248 and it should work.

I thought about using the 228's pickup and pan, but wondered what I would be trading in oil volume.

I know many guys using these engine that have swapped pans with no problems. I believe it's not only the pick up that's different, but also the oil pump cover .These were truck engines and unless you are hauling tons of cargo you don't need 10 quarts of oil.
