I have a 3 car that was way nicer than the slab of cement to work on and a large shed with my tools at the old house. ran out of room so I added a 16x18 extension for a work area. verry nice but still not enough room.
I worked in a wet yard, then a closed in carport, then a 24X26 shop (heaven), all on the same property over the years, then moved to the country, very dry here, most of my stored is outside, my shop is 18X30, and I'm good with it. I could build bigger, but organised this shop well, and surprised myself with enough room, its my hot rod shop, I have an attached garage for my 36, a 34X34 pole barn for my travel trailers (two), and the boss to park under, no complaints, been there, done that. Life is truly good.
I have a Shelter Logic 20x25 tent for my overflow and spare parts. The cover is maybe good for 4 years and they don't tolerate much snow load. Desperate people do desperate things.
I'm in a 24 x 30 home shop and I have all the same equipment as the OP. But, I am currently helping out a friend in his professional shop that is smaller than mine. He doesn't have a mill or lathe, but has everything else, very very well organized, and it is cleaned up and swept daily. Everything has its place, and he knows exactly where everything is. I am learning lots from him in the way of organization. A few years ago, my daughter and her hubby got married and moved into the loft above my garage that was my storage area. I was forced to take 3 loads of "stuff" to the local thrift store and 2 pickup loads to the dump. That taught me something also. I was hannging onto a lot of crap I didn't need. Oh, and I forgot to mention that my wife parks in my garage in the winter also. I am far better organized than I used to be, but I still have a long ways to go.
I'm in a 16wx24L enclosed steel building with a 10 ft car port with a dirt floor on one side I NEED MORE ROOM!!!!!!!!!!
Driveway in front of the house unless its chassis related and the street is flatter with no incline. I can't tell you enough how I hate dropping sockets, bolts, etc and chase them rolling down the driveway. I do get to work on stuff at work every so often, but nothing overnight , has to be running and drive out of the shop before the next day.
I don't know how many cars I've put together in my one-car garage under my bedroom. I rent a little model A garage across town to store my parts. I build small cars...no room for taildragger customs.
I've got a one and a half car garage.. It's a 2-car garage but one half of it is the "laundry room." I wish I had half the equipment you have. All I have are hand-tools, a drill press, a parts washer, air compressor, bench grinder/wire wheel on a homemade stand, bench vise on a homemade stand, non-hydraulic press on a homemade stand (starting to notice a pattern here..) and a MIG welder. Plenty of bench-top space, shelves, and just bought a '50's Remington index card cabinet to put all my nuts and bolts in. Also have a pair of SBCs on engine stands sitting in the rear corner along with a cherry picker and a few barrels used for scrap metal, trash, old rags, etc.. A little tight in there but I've made the best of it I can. As you can imagine, it's quite difficult getting a good picture of the entire garage, so the last one is kind of blurry. All of the stuff inside my garage is probably just under half of everything I own. Most of it is at storage and a friend's shop so I need to find a big shop to get everything under one roof. I'm still grateful that I have plenty of shop space and have put it to good use. (Just a disclaimer.. The front tires are rollers. They will get replaced with the appropriate tires. I feel like I have to point this out every time a picture gets posted because those tires are eye-sores.)
I dream of a driveway slab. Pea gravel and jack stands will put the fear in you. The garage is an Impala plus 18" long and wide enough to open one door. I also have a bay in a storage garage with no power just big enough for the tools I'm not using right now, one Impala, and the '35 Tudor. I consider myself lucky now. When I lived in a city, I built an off topic car in the parking garage under my apt. at night while the building manager slept.
Not much room here, 14' 6" wide and 32' long. The good thing it is twice as big as what I had before and the first shop I have owned that had a cement floor. The pole shed we had on the farm was dirt floor and the small shop that was here when we bought this house was dirt floored also and 14'X16'. Plans for the future shop are in my head and likely abit of overkill. Rod Pic's below when I was tearing down the old buggiehouse shop and building the new one.
28'x40'-two hot rods,A 4 wheeler,& 2 bicycles its tight! I have no room for huge machines so I dont buy them? I really want some bigger tools/equipment but I barely have any room as it is? thought bout buying an enclosed trailer to store 1 hotrod in but I dont want the risk of someone taking off with it and my hot rod? I wouldnt think it would ever happen but we've all seen much worse? hang as much up that you can! anything you havent used in 5+ years that isnt for your projects get rid of it! use your workbench for a work space not a catch all! (purge) take it all out in the driveway and re organize as it goes back in to suit what you are working on at that time if you dont need it in the garage it goes outside, in the shed, or house "the wife hates that" or get rid of it? we all hate to do that but...here recently i have been using this lil trick that works great I made shelves out of the front and rear bumpers that later I may use off of my 53' chevy and all my parts from that car goes on the shelves I know were it all is and use the parts as needed. I did this with my wagon and I like it! that heavy front bumper will never be used other than for a shelf!
3000 sq, feet. Used to be too big -haha. Best thing to do is to take an extra minute to put something back where it belongs , you can spend days looking for it if you don't. Actually lost track of a engine in there. Took about 1/2 hour to figure out where it was.
I've used a harbr freight pop up storage tent. It worked ok for the 1 winter I used it. Consider that you're gonna fill it up then it wil go to shit in 2 years then your stuff will get ruined. You need to re evaluate your amount of stuff. Expand your shed or build a garage. I've moved a lot for work on short time frames so I'm typically stuck in a suburb house. I built a 30 x 44 but its 2 hours away, where I can have my family watch it
ive got a 2 car garage, filled with about 15 K in tools our 52 vickie and my girls 04 mazdaspeed. its tight to say the least but its better then no garage.
I have a 20'x20' shed and it's still not enough room. My '35 Chevy driver is parked out in the front garage of the house. My '46 Olds project in the back. Body on stands on one side, chassis on the other side. There there is the bench with hand tools, MIG/TIG/Plasma, rotisserie, engine crane. Engine and transmission are on engine stands as well. Panels are hanging off walls, seats and hood are in 'A' frame part of shed apex. Then the shelves on 3 x sides are full of other parts and boxes. Can't wait to get the chassis back under the body to free up some space. 2 x wardrobes in house have boxes of parts as well.
I'm probably a little spoilt. I have a 40' x 80' shed a 20' x 30' shed a 40' container a 20' container and an acre of land to play with.
I have my parents 2 car garage to work in, the alley has always been too small to get their car down it into the garage. So I got to use it, it was built in the 1920's and is alittle short for newer cars, but it works. One bay we use as storage, chill spot and the other bay is clearish so a car can fit. I have done lots of work lately in it, from fixing all of the rust in my car and my brothers car, lots of rust on his lol, my Dads Mark8 got rearended so I put a quarter on it, I just did a front frame rail on a buddies mustang, and right now I am finishing putting pans in a 73 beetle. I used to think it was two small untill I worked on my buddies 65 impala in his garage, thats a few inches winder than the car, now I just get to work. I have a chainfall and a pit, thats how oldschool I work lol.

I just added a 12x20 lean to on the side of my shop. It cost about $400 to build but if I can get the big stuff (48" fan, fenders, roller tires ...) out of the shop it's worth it. I also put everything in the shop on casters so I can clear an area quick to do oil changes or whatever on the daily drivers. 28
We are definitely spoiled having a couple of garages to work and store in. Space determines whether I can bring that new project home or pass on it so it`s good to have a limiting factor.
I was limited by the HOA as to size of a building so I have a 30X30, with 12 ft walls, a Direct Lift and storage upstairs. Initially it was huge but with 2 Millers, a plazma cutter, drill press, band saw, sheet metal brake, roll around metal work tables, a 31 coupe, a 66 Mustang and a completely disassembled 52 F1, space is very limited. A damn disassembled pickup truck takes up a huge amount of space! I believe that regardless of the size of the building, its never enough, because this hot rod habit is an addiction. I wouldn't have it any other way. BOutlaw
