I just got a set of the 14 series Gennie wheels from Wheel Vintiques (through Summit). 16 X 4 1/2 and 16 X 6. They have the funky 10 hole pattern, but I'll be running caps anyway.

I ordered the 1942 style center caps that (best I could research) were supposed to fit.

They don't. They BIG time don't. The caps are WAY small.
I went to the Summit website and opened another tab with the Wheel Vintiques website.
Back and forth looking at center caps and Summit shows the PN 2009-1 as the "right" ones.
The WV site says PN 2009-1 is for my wheels.
    Fits Gennie and solid wheels.
The box they came in has 2009-1-A, so now I'm really confused.
I don't know whether to call WV or Summit.
Ultimately, since I got them from Summit, I'll have to deal with them for the exchange.
Should I call Wheel Vintiques and find out the "right" part number, then call Summit?
Good thing I'm not in a hurry for these. Getting the right caps shouldn't be that hard to do.

Call Summit. If they dont know the call WV.

Most of the time Summit has their own part numbers, so to simplify it, is why I would call Summit

I would call WV, get the facts straight, then call and go through the exchange so YOU know what your talking about. Most likely the phone person wont, they cant know everything, they go by what the computer says and it probably said the same as you seen, so they will be all confused as well

Call Wheel Vintiques. They will tell you all the part numbers for the caps that are available for the wheels you bought

-A's are for the Smoothies. You just want a 2009 for a Gennie. I could not see a "-1" in their catalog, but if the number ends in an "A" then it is a Smoothie cap.

there are 3 different stock type caps for these types of wheels--measure the outer inside part where they snap into the wheel--are they 8 1/8th--also one of the types have the inside lip in farther as some wheels have the nubs inboard of the center about 3/8th--your wheel looks like the nubs are toward the outer edge--have recently been thru this--pm me if this doesn't make sense

I have a current WV catalog and the following caps will fit your wheels,
2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,,2032-G. Trim rings 3005,3006,3008. What do you mean by "too small"? The caps are not supposed to cover the entire wheel. Hope this helps

Yep. They make repop caps that will fit OG wheels as wheel as ones that fit the smoothies and they are different sizes.

I have had to modify the retaining "nubs" on those wheels in the past to get the caps to fit. They stick up to far and won't allow the cap to fit between them. Might want to make sure you have the right caps first though....

I have some WV wheels …. Original 48 merc caps don’t want to pop on all the way …. 40 and 41‘s do.

This is correct. The "-A" caps fit the smaller hub of the Smoothie wheel.

Thanks guys. As far as the -1 in the part number, on the WV website where it shows the pic with wheel/cap on the left, center is a detailed description and on the right is the description with a part number WVA-2009 (for example).
If you scroll down, under "product information" there is a VENDOR PART NUMBER 2009-1. That's where I got that.

The Summit page says "fits 8 1/2 (or whatever) center". That's fine if you have the wheels already.
But I ordered wheels and caps together. The wheel description doesn't list the center cap size.
Adding that little tidbit to the wheel description would help.
Adding a link to the specific caps that would fit the wheel chosen would be even better.
I know some 14 year olds in Tennessee that could fix that up.:D
    Update:
Well, I just talked to Summit and they will make it right.
I explained that the "A" fits the smoothie wheel and I need the ones without the "A". "OK sir, no problem."
All I have to do is tape up the box and take it to the post office.
    My faith is restored. :D

    Thanks again guys! Merry Christmas!

Thumbs up to Summit for fixing you up. You probably could have sold those easily enough if you had gotten stuck with them, but glad to see them make it right for you.

Glad you got fixed up. I hate trying to fix a problem, and getting to many suppliers involved, all that does is start the blame game, in the mean time, you just want the issue fixed. Summit has a great return policy.

I took the box to the post office today.
So, we'll see what and how long.
    Fingers crossed.

Let us know when you get the new caps....I have the same wheels (same sizes too) and I need to order caps.
    Thanks for the heads up
