    Hi Tunglegubbin,
    cool Roadster!!!

How did you mount the '36 rear wishbones to the frame??
Are they "strong" enough to take the power from the motor?
    Thanks

They are connected to the frame X-member on each side of the prop shaft by means of metalasctic type rubber bushes (Volvo rears).

I had a friend brake a pair 36 radius rod but then he had a Chrysler Hemi and slicks. They broke at the original weld.

What I did was take them apart, weld a 1/4"mm plate vertically to the rear forging, slot the radius rod tube abt 3" for that plate, and the weld it all together. Even if i would bend it out of shape now it will at least stay together.

...and the headers are just nickel +chrome

Very cool roadster. I love the headers and all the other little details.

I would drive the hell out of that car.

Sorry about not showing up to Enköping to take the pics. But you sure know what bitches old fords can be ! Hopefully some other day with better luck. Despite the promlems I got the 60 F100 fleetside to Finland (with rope etc of course) and clutch is now fixed and it´s even besiktigad=inspected? and soon registered....I hope. Your roadster is really awesome piece of hot rod machinery!

  9. Tunglegubbin, that is one of the tastiest AV8s I've ever seen. You seem to have detailed pix of everything on the car. I sure won't object if you post ALL of them.

This thread is worth more than 5 stars.

That's a nice hair dryer, go wear it out, my friend.

Turns out, it's the axle tubes. So much for a relaxing winter.

Anyone got a fresh pair of 35-36 axle tubes??

  17. Very nice hot rod, but I've always thought that the term "AV8" referred specifically to flathead powered "A" models. ???

Well, sure, but you don't go twisting your axle tubes with a flatty.

Initially that was the case, but the term has been applied to Deuce-framed cars for long enough to make the term acceptable to both configurations.

Bummer! Where did they twist? Right where the radius rods attach?

Cracking along the weld, making them very flexible.

Not entirely Henry's fault though, there has been some serious polishing going on...well lesson learned.

Very nice car, I know about that serious polishing stuff, I did that to my touque tube wish bone mount before chroming. While I'm still in mock up stage I noticed a prob and found the bracket pulled loose at the front, scared the sheeet out of me. I will never do that again.--TV
