On a recent trip to see my in-laws, I got a real surprise. My father-in-law heard about this farm that held a couple old Fords and a Nash in barns and he knew I would be very interested in exploring. So away we went.

Needless to say I damn near wet my shorts when I turned the corner from the forgotten Nash to be presented with 2 A's sittin on wood in a barn. Then to top off the trip we were led to a 'A' mordor sitting in another barn.

Unfortunately someone has hacked at the roadster and coupe, but both bodies are fairly rot free. Maybe someone can explain the slots cut into the quarters on the roadster.

Currently I am trying to work a deal for these cars and the reported 'rest of the collection.'

They are still out there.... Enjoy

Check out the bent spoke Kelsels on the roadster! Hope there are three more on the car. my guess is than at some time the slots were for sides of a home made pickup bed. most timed the deck lid and bottom panel were removed and a box slid in that opened area. Hope you get all of thise cars. :D

Nice find, iv got a similar but not as good story.
The hacking on the roadster looks like the old war time try and make it into a truck and there for get more gas deal. They probably had side boards in them there slots.

Those pics gave me wood. Not many "barn finds" in south florida............The fordor is a Murray fordor, which I'm kinda partial to since I'm building one:D It looks solid from the pics. Good luck

My In-laws have a farm that's been in the family for a long time. I just found out about it about 6 weeks ago. There is a barn that can't be accessed until winter...you can't drive to it any more, because it's so over grown and rattle snake infested (2 people have been bitten trying to get there). So apparently my wife's great uncle has a "car collection" sitting in this barn that's about to fall over. I've been dreaming of what I might find there...your story gives me hope. I can't wait until it gets cold enough for the snakes to go away so I can get my in-laws to take me over there...it's killing me!!! There are abandoned early 50s and a couple ROUGH 30s cars scattered over the property...so there could be something really cool in there. I'll post pics when I get to make the trip and find out.
Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience...I hope you are able to snatch those A's....LOVE THAT PATINA!

my house is a snake fest, covered in tiger snakes, which are VERY venomous, but not very aggressive. i have nearly been bitten by one when i stood on it, but it NEVER happens when i'm mowing the property, on foot.

    why? because i'm carrying a whipper-snipper! (which i believe you might call a weed-whacker...?)

there is NO snake in the world that wants to hang around when someone is cruising along with a 25cc two stroke screaming at 10,000 RPM. i mow in total safety even though there's 15-20 snakes on my 2 acre property. you want to walk to the barn? fire up the weed-whacker and go slow, there's ZERO chance you'll get bitten.

snakes don't prey on humans. they can't dislocate their jaws THAT far!

My inlaws might show me the door, but nothing close to something this cool...

  11. I'm still pretty happy to NOT have inlaws, 'cause havin' inlaws means havin' a wife, and THAT means maybe havin' ta store the bikes in the garage, which would put one or two cars in the drive, which...aaaa...it's just a bad scene, ya know???

Currently I am waiting for the gas prices to settle out before I make the run to recover the rides. The current owner is looking to move them, cause hunters are getting a little to curious and the barns are looking unstable.

From the looks of the coupe and roadster I will probably part them out. Hopefully the proceeds will pay for the rest of my sedan...

As for the bent spokes, I remember them being all around.

Does anyone have interest in the '25ish Nash or parts of? if not I will probably leave it for future photo-ops....

    Duane,
I could make your dreams come true as I would be rolling thru Chi-town with the fordor in tow, if my father-in-law doesn't call dibs, it might be yours.

I know you said that you would probably part them, but let me know what your plans would be for the roadster, if you decide to sell it as it sets.

    Cool find, for sure!!

  18. I would like to see more pics of the Nash. Are the fenders around somewhere?

    JayD,
Once I get a closer look at the roadster I will let you know about selling it whole. I also waiting to find out about the title.

    Benzine440,
The rear fenders and rear doors are sitting inside the mordor Ford. The front fenders were both still attached to the body and weathering the storm. I will send pics to your email tomorrow.

I can understand the conversion to a truck to get more gas & tires, but why did they have to slice thru the tin?!?!? Seeing the slices thru the quarters gave me a sickining feeling...

My guess is they must have had a minimum deck size or something otherwise I can't figure why all these people would have spent the time to chop an inch or two out of the inside of the guards on all these A's mine incl, I fugure with those cars as complete as they are even with the scars they are a real good find, a sharp body guy could patch those puppies up in no time, a slacker like me in about a year :)

Gotta remember that when they did this, these cars were everywhere and 'just old cars'.

Would you hesitate to cut up a '85 Taurus? Get the picture??

Good point.... I think I would cut up a '85 Taurus just for fun....

I wonder if some kid 75 years from now is going to be drooling over a Taurus sitting in a field rusting away?.... naaawwwww..

  29. Is that a radiator MOUNTED in the rear of that roadster, or just setting there? If some PO tried to rear mount a radiator for some reason, perhaps the extra body slices are for airflow.

Bad News.... The current owner is not willing to see the cars go just yet... They told me they might reconsider next summer?!?!?

I do not understand what some people are thinking....

Hopefully I will have better news next summer....
