Found this lurking near my house the other day. I know its around 52-54 ish Special or Super. Can the Buick experts tell me about it?
3 portholes= special, looks like a fairly complete car less gl*** and rt fender trim and its a 2dr+++
Well, it's a '53 Special or a Super. Either has the 263 straight eight or the 322 V8 in it, IIRC the Special is 6V electric yet, the Super is 12V.
Thanks....I do know its a V8. Only thing I noticed missing was the right fender trim. Has rocker rust and floor pan rust thru on the drivers side. I think this is the first 2dr I ever remember seeing.
Ok...thanks....have no idea how much he wants for it yet though. Hope he isn't as bad as the guy up the road that wants 18K for his stock F1.
1953 Super first year of the Nailhead V-8 Nice find. You can go any direction with one of the coolest, most under rated body styles ever built. Jeff Brock * see a bunch of cool Buick pics @ www.rocketheadsstudio.com
Jeff is correct. 53 Super. Portholes, front bumper, and rear fender profile is the giveaway. 53 Roadmaster would have had 4 portholes I believe.
Well better come and get it soon.....I'm sure all it needs is some fresh gas and a battery.....it ran when parked.
Yes, as others have said, it is a '53 Super. A '53 Special looks similar to this but is, in fact, a different body shell as well as having a straight 8. The Specials used GM "B" bodies and the Super/Roadmaster are GM "C" bodied. Ray
Definitely a 1953 Super Model 56 Riviera (bodystyle 53-4567 on alloy tag under the hood). Rear fenders on a Super were removable and Special has fixed fenders welded on. Buick built 91.298 of this model alone.
