What are the drawbacks of using Engine hi-temp paint for non-engine applications? I have an engine paint I like--love the color. Why can't I use it for other stuff on the car like the brake calipers, Master cylinder, etc?

I am looking into getting the same color in standard paint that i can apply with HVLP, but right now all I have are rattle cans of this color in Hi-Temp. I am NOT looking at doing the whole car with it of course, just small parts, though the pot metal dash, steering column, etc are candidates for this paint.

    Thoughts?

Like any paint just make sure it is compatible with any primers or clear coat you might use. Make a test panel.
So what is the color? You'll need to post pics when this is done...

As indicated, you have to be careful about compatability with the primer. Hi-Temp tends to go thicker and if you try to load it you will have some rough surfaces.

Main difference is the hardner in it in most of them but I use it on motorcycle tanks for the durability but hell use it for whatever...

Thanks everyone. turns out a local auto parts store can mix it for me, and they can put the new mix in rattle cans for just $21/can!!! So i will just stick to the engine paint at $7 a can! LOL

    Thanks for the input!

Dupi color ceramic engine paint is great. Use it on every thing. Much better that
Average paint bomb. I even have a friend that painted his whole jeep with the
Stuff and it holds up great. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it in action myself.
    No issues with dupi color.

I used some in a rattle can to paint a firewall. Seemed to hold up well.
