    Hey guys,

A couple of times at local shows, and in this image here, I've seen really spiffy Model A Sports Coupes, that I REALLY like! I'm having trouble finding pictures of similar cars with their basic tops still intact, but just chopped. I'm guessing most people roadster-ize these things...

Does anyone have pictures of similar rides? I think I may have finally found my favorite Model A (A's are already undoubtably my favorite rod, but I've yet to decide which particular style I fancy most) and now that I've found it, I don't have any good pictures!

The one here is obviously not the T, but the yellow coupe behind it. Cheers!

I like 'em too. This was Joe McClellan's car, now owned by Mark Morton.

My dad has 2 of them, but both are bone stock with the exception of high comp heads, down draft carbs and a few other tricks. I had never seen one "fully" rodded til a few years ago. It was chopped and Washington blue, man that car was nice. In other words....keep the pics coming if ya got em!

Just to add to the "cool factor", there is another bodystyle that is similar to the Sports but it has Opera quarter windows instead of the funeral bars. These are called a Business Coupe and we are restoring one as we speak. I also have some extra parts for a 28-29 Sports ...plus a complete body that is dis***embled if someone is wanting a project.

Stovebolt, thanks for the picture of the Yellow one! I wanted to see the whole thing really badly! Hope yours turns out well!

Brent, also can't wait to see yours done! The Opera style is cool, too!

Dean & Mike, that thing is slick! Not quite so refined, but just fine with me! :D

Keep 'em comin', guys. Thanks a lot!

Awhile back a lot of rod magazins featured a tan '28/'29 Sport Coupe with a chopped top and a raked, lowered ch***is. It was a *****in rod and I wish I had pictures to post. Anyone have any pictures of the one I'm talking about. At the time I heard several hard core rodders say they couldn't believe how cool it was.

Joe's car has been an inspiration to me ever since I saw it's road test in Rod and Custom Magazine in the May 1970 issue. That's 35 years ago. I still have the issue. Kelsey-Hayes wires, Auburn dash, Crager headed 4-banger, Winfield down-draft carb, Mallory dizzy, Howard cam, Lincoln front brakes, Ford rears, '32 Ford trans w/Zephyr gears, etc. Old time hot rod all the way! Mark Morton is a lucky man. I'd take it even tho its painted green.

This is my dad's 31 Sport Coupe. It was done as it looks now in 1958. It will get a new top (maybe a bit shorter) this winter.

Are you sure someone didn't just put those windows in a sport coupe so they could see out of it better?

The business coupe is the standard 5 window coupe, with trunk not rumble seat, no sidemount tires, no cowl lights, no luggage rack on back, just the basic A coupe.

You and I are not alone in our admiration for this car. I ran into an old guy at a swap meet about five years ago, asked if he was Joe Mac, asked if he still had his Sport Coupe and if it was for sale. He replied, "I can put you on the list of guys who want it when I die." I was surprised that he sold it, still alive and kicking.

Thanks for posting that photo! I was going to go through a stack of old Rod & Custom and find the issue when it was on the cover. Is the Crager still under the hood?:D

One of my all time favourite body styles. I would love to have one myself, and saw one in a guys loft about 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately not for sale and if it was I probably couldn't afford it anyway. I have bought a couple of tudor doors from stressed_out and would like to gather the pieces to put one together one day. I gather that the quarter panels are probably shorter than those on a roadster? Can anyone confirm this for me.
    Thanks
    Michael
