At Orange Show Speedway in So-Cal on December 15th came 130 race cars in 10 divisions to race the final asphalt races before Orange Show reverts back to a dirt and clay track for 2013. Of all the great race cars that came out the coolest by far was this 1960 Chevy Biscayne. With the headers coming out of the hood the sound was profoundly different from anything else that raced this night. The car looked like a Matchbox car next to the other cars. Enjoy
That's really cool! I didn't know they were racing there again. I thought they closed down except for concert events. I gotta get back there next season. Seems this short track has more wheel-to-wheel action than irwindale.
That thing is cool, the old Pontiac wheel on the LR cracks me up. Trying to get the LR inside the track of the LF. I'd like to see some ch***is pics of it as well.
Wonder how he got through TI with the aluminum left rear wheel. Thems were the days .... and good to hear of a track revert back to dirt. EDIT DoubleJ ... you fast!
That '60 was way cool. You could find it on the track by listening for the header noise. And the pace car for the night was a beautiful, healthy clone of Ivan Baldwin's #07 Chevelle, built and driven by Donnie Bierma. The "Last Asphalt Race" at Orange Show Speedway was just that. Between now and next season, they plan to put a layer of clay on the track and go dirt racing. Woo-hoo!
JFYI that is a rare Bel Air 2DHT and not a Biscayne. I know it's trivial but I had one and I'm an ***hole anyway
That concrete rebar grill looks pretty good I hope the used "real automotive paint" and not the Rustoleum ****
yea i'm diggin' that rebar grill too! and putting dirt on the track is pretty cool too ! way better than a mini-mall !!
Looks like one of the new age "vintage" racer... old body on an obsolete circle track ch***is. There's a "Vintage Racing ***ociation" nearby that should really be called the "Obsolete Ch***is ***ociation" since most of the cars sport bodies from the 50's and 60's with ex-late model full tube ch***is. Kinda like putting a Deuce 5 window body on a Hyundai... .
