Here is a pic of Franks f100 with some 15x7 standard offset supremes with 205 70 15s and that is the same size tires I have so this is what they would look like for sure.Hope Frank does not not mine me using a pic of his truck. Jake
I like both of those wheels equally as much on their own, but the OE style chrome steel wheels you have pictured there would probably match the style of your particular truck better than the Supremes, as much as I love Supremes. I'm honestly not sure I have ever in my life saw a car running chrome steel wheels like those that didn't look good. Fits a lot of eras and a lot of styles, they're kind of a can't-miss wheel in my book.
I don't think you can go wrong with either the Supremes or the chrome stockies. Just stay away from smoothies! Aren't the stock chromite a lot more expensive? What style/era are you going for? 15/7 was a huge wheel back then. Fronts and fears were usually the same size. Looks better than the wide ones on the red truck. Good luck with your dilemma. Mike
In my head I want stock 15x7 Vintiques painted the same color of the truck when I finish it very dark blue like a midnight blue color with the through the center bullet chrome caps . But don't think the truck will get painted for some time so it will be,for lack of a better word the patina look so was thinking the chrome would look the best on it. Yea it's gona get the stock style wheel not the smoothe style if I go that route. The stock style chrome are 140 ,smoothe style are like 109 each. Thanks Jake
Ok one last what about. Was thinking Vintiques chrome outer rim painted center and the 48 style Vintiques dog dish caps. The whole set including caps is 481 and that seams like a great deal so it would have some shine but still have that traditional look. Yea I know . Jake
I don't like the chromed outer/painted inner style wheels, I think those only really became available in the last 15 years. To be period correct, the whole rim should be chromed, or else, just paint some stock steel wheels and run a trim ring and a hub cap, cheaper that way. In the 60's, I don't think anyone would have paid money for half chromed and half painted steel wheels, but I could be proven wrong.
For better or worse I am going to get the smooth paint/ chrome style Vintiques with the 48 style caps. I know guys don't like the smooth style ones and there not perfect traditional style wheel but they are what I like the truck will lay flat on air ride allso and I know that is not traditional either. I have to build it for me and I just can't bring my self to buy all chrome stock looking wheels not that they don't look nice. Thanks for all the suggestions ideas and info from every body. Who knows in a few months I could change my mind a gain and do all paint gennie Vintiques style wheel with the 48 cap.I was a hair away from doing that and that would have been the closest to being true traditional. Thanks jake
speaking of supremes, does anyone that lived in the bay area during the 70's remember them being called "lloyds? i knew them by the name supremes but the guys from contra costa county called them lloyds. anyone have any information? was lloyds a wheel company calling there version of supremes "lloyds"
Not sure if anyone cars but this is the way I went and how it looks.vintiques smoothies with chrome rim and raw center ,center will be painted white and 48 Ford caps 205 70 15s standard offset 7 in wide. Thanks jake
I really like ryno's ride. He's got a bad *** build thread towards the end he puts supremes with pinner whites. 14x6 std in front and 14x7 rev in back. Personally my favorite unibody.
