Hi, Iv'e seen these add's about peep mirrors said to fit car's from the 40's & 50's. I have a 1940 LaSalle and wonder if they will fit?. I think they screw to the inside of the door lip and travel with the door as it opens. The pictures of the product don't show me what I need to know which is the clearance required to fit without damage. I turn to the experts. Enjoy the season. Thanks, from the (great white north) which by the way has not been white this year. Maybe at Christmas.
Can't think of any reason why they wouldn't work on your car,,there are usually 2 small set screws that uses ether a flat head or allen head screws on the inside of the door,,,basically it's a U shape that fits over the lip of the door and the set screws hold it in place. HRP
Thickness of the 'U' bracket that saddles the lip of the door is typically .063" (1/16" thick)... When installed, the apex of the bracket rises .140" (9/64") above the door lip. If your door gaps are 3/16" it will fit perfectly. If your door gaps are 1/8", your gaps need adjusting. (check for gap all around the doors, they are adjustable)
Hotrodprimer and Atwater Mike thanks for your opinions. I am going to order them. Have a nice Xmas. Thanks.
I put them on my binder and had to notch door to set them on and then removed them as they left too much blind spot,,terrible in multilane traffic. I ended up using stock arms with 4" convex mirrors.
Jazz1. The blind spot could be an issue, but i am in need of mirrors. So I will try these peep's. I will keep in mind the convex possibilty. Thanks
There are all sorts of mirrors that clamp onto the door........some on the top like the peeps, others that are round or rectangular and go lower at about the beltline. None is quite perfect....but is helpful to be able to see behind you.
