Some of you may have seen my earlier post on the 'test panel' with the flake I wanted to use. A lot of comments suggested putting more on. Thought about for a bit (maybe 2-3 seconds) and thought, hell yeah, why not! So I rang the painter and told him to chuck a bit more in than he had for the test panel. Went to pick the car up and I thought it looked pretty cool. He ended up putting about twice the recommended dose. Took it to a small show today and it pissed down with rain and the sun never even looked like coming out. Wow! Look at the car with the white roof!... So I came home an took a few snaps in the garage under the dim glow of two incandescent globes. Even with that pissant amount of light, it still looks really cool. Looking in the same direction it'll look green at the front of the roof and blue towards the back. Under different lighting conditions it shines a real nice turquoise that is just about a match for the colour on the body. I reckon it turned out OK. Just waiting on some door rubbers and stuff to come and then she'll look complete again. Really needs some Astros though...
Yep....That's a kenosha kanoe....Funny...A guy at the Iola (Wi) Swap Meet had a '63 Cl***ic for sale...not too bad...nice interior...stuck six cylinder...$500.00..I offered him $400.00 the FIRST day of the show...he wouldn't take it 'cuz he had so much interest in it...Now I see it in front of his place with a For Sale sign on it...maybe he should have sold it to me....BTW...the flake looks great...what did you use?
Kenosha Kanoe... I like it. Flake is House Of Kolor Abalone. It's a mini-flake so it's pretty subtle, not like a bumper car/speedboat, but it really does sparkle. Turned out just the way I wanted it to. You don't really notice it at first, but when you do it just ****s you in.
Boris, I hope too see that in person come John's Picnic....hint hint...You coming down or what? BTW Looking the Goods!!!! See more is always better.....
That's the plan. The bay is due on Nov 15th though, so provided everything stays where it should, I'll be down there! Hopefully cruising down with Michael Morris and Craig Fountain and whoever else wants to come along. BTW, Sunday (Oct 30th) is my birthday, so I EXPECT presents!
AKA Kenosha ********...I say that with all the love and respect possible...I like the little flake...
****, I thought I had a good look at it yesterday, I didn't notice the flake, must have been due to the Pommy weather. The engine bay looks verrry clean and tidy. Just as a tip, try and get the rubbers and other small jobs done before the baby comes, coz once the baby arrives everything goes crazy and it's hard to get anything done. Good luck to You, Sue and the little one. Cheers Bob
Ahh...looks sweet brootal! Got the licence back on friday....got the EK fired up on saturday..running wellan hour later after some fiddling..getting her ready to take to John's be good to see everyone there!...damn we need HAMB parking! =] Cheers and Beers ( when not driving) Maiki
I thought EVERYONE knew about the flake! LOL Rubbers are on their way. Will hopefully arrive this week some time. Plenty of time. Still have 10 weeks to go yet...
Sun came out today. Couldn't help myself. ***** of a thing to photograph, but I think you get the drift. I really like this effect as it's just about a spot-on match for the body colour. Completely unintentional! More blue in this shot. I think we put enough in... So does it have enough flake? It was shining gold from a certain angle, but I couldn't really get a pic of it. I think it looks best under artificial light as the white doesn't overpower the flake. In direct sunlight you need your welding goggles on to look at it!
Nah, didn't want to confuse the painter too much. Basically it's a three stage Base Over Clear job. First he put on the white base, then mixed the flake in with the 'Intercoat Clear'. Finally the clear was bombed on over the top.
very cool.... i did the same thing on forsakenfews interior, before har**** got his hands on it...lol
Mini flakes kick ***, I'll take them over regular flake any day. I have a persoanl soft spot for the more subtle, pearlier stuff. She's a clean little cruiser, for sure.
