Howdy All, new to HAMB and liking it so far. I aspire to be a true motorhead one day. In my pursuit to pull off my dream I picked up a 1972 Chevelle, jumped in and rebuilt the 350 small block. In the process of replacing the transmission now. I love that Car. I also picked up a 1973 TR6 that had been sitting in my wife's uncles garage for the last 15 years rotting away. I restored it and brought it back to life. It's a fun little car for my wife. Then I picked up a 1970 Triumph Trophy motorcycle that had been sitting under a guys deck and rotting away for the last 9 years. Took it apart, put it back together and she looks like new. Then I came across a 1961 Chevy Apache Stepside truck that was being used as a farm vehicle. The body is in very rough shape but the engine hums. I can see the finished truck in my head and I know I can do it, given enough time and patience. I'll be asking for lots of help on the truck and looking for parts. I look forward to meeting you all. Welcome from Md. and thanks for your service. Looks like your skills aren't limited to any particular genre of vehicle. Enjoy your HAMBtime..................Don.
Thanks 28TUDOR, My Wife's uncle bought it when he got out of the Navy back in 1973, he put 46K miles on it and then in ~95 he parked it in his garage and there it sat, collecting dust and getting stuff stored on top of it. Crazy. I've been asking him for that last 17 years to sell it to me but he always said no, he's saving it for one of his three daughters that will want it one day. Well, they are all grown and gone now and they all said they don't want it because it a manual transmission!!!.......So he sold it to me for what he had into it, $4600.00. I put 2K into it and brought her back to like. She runs great. All original, except I put a new soft top on it and interior carpet. Crazy. It's a blast on nice days. Took my youngest boy on a roadtrip down the Skyline Drive in VA earlier this year. Good memories. My wife hardly drives it..........I guess it runs in her family. OOHRAH!! Gene.
